Here's Scocco's second goal vs Deportivo Lara, a thing of beauty. And the first one wasn't bad either
Supposedly says he wants a move ASAP to europe, as in his opinion is what's holding him back from starring on the NT.
Surprised AEK Athens didn't work out for him before: granted Greece is not the strongest league but playing there can certainly be used as a good "vitrina" to go to a top-5 league.
I watched AEK play in the past, and they're not a very creative attacking team...A different team I am sure would have helped him more.
Plus, from my understanding, they used him more as a right winger/midfielder. Not that he can't play in that position, but he clearly excels as a second striker.

Velez looking good. Didn't see the game, but saw the match result on Olé and noticed that Gago didn't play yet again. He's hardly played this Libertadores and he's played even less in the torneo local. He was supposed to be their top signing and he's contributed nothing. This proves that a lot of times, in south america, where so few players play on the national teams, it actually proves to be a huge disadvantage when one of your players actually gets called up. See: Gago.

Man! this Peñarol team is tough to watch. It's just a dumb team. There is not one player on the team that stops and thinks for a second. It's just "put your head down and push forward at 100 mph" until you find a wall in front of you. The effort is commendable but it's such a waste. You can't be depending on Pacheco, who is coming back from a fracture, on top of being over the hill. Time for a renewal. Get those u-20 kids up(if we have them). Da Silva said last night that if he doesn't win the Uruguayo tournament he's leaving... LOL not kidding! you might be gone before the Uruguayo is over bud. So it's an old, dumb team with a "small team" coach at the helm. Oh boy! how I miss Diego Aguirre
I'm surprised Peñarol didn't make it. I had them and Vélez Sársfield advancing. The round of 16 is taking shape. Nacional, Boca Juniors, Atlético Mineiro, Vélez Sársfield, Emelec, Corinthians, Tijuana, Santa Fe, and Olimpia are through. Can't wait for 2 weeks from today; the first round of 16 matches will be played then.
As if Cerro hasn't embarrassed Paraguayan football enough they send a C team in the altitude to humiliate themselves (and the league) even further. That Gavilan keeper of theirs is absolutely terrible. The way he came out so far off his line like that to try and beat a player is a mistake not even a little leaguer would make.
Why do you care if you're an Olimpia fan? If Boca lost 5-0 to Atletico Mineiro next round i'll go out into the streets and light off fire works. They did the same to us when we lost in 2006 . Who gives a shit about the "league" concentrate on your own team. Nationalism is a proven failure on all levels

I enjoy more then anyone their absolute failure but you can't deny it still makes your league look bad when one of your "champions" is getting ass raped like that. But I guess thats what happens when you don't have the local referees (I'm looking at you Carlos Amarilla) around to help you out
I agree with this. If Corinthians faced a fourth-division team from, say, Honduras or El Salvador in a FIFA-sanctioned continental tournament and was routed, I’d laugh (and so would Palmeiras and Santos fans). But it would also mean that Brazilian soccer had been humiliated by a semi-professional team from a nation whose soccer tradition is nowhere as respected as Brazil’s, and that wouldn’t be good for Brazilian soccer’s reputation. Some BigSoccer South Americans made jokes here when Internacional lost to Mazembe - the first time a CONMEBOL team didn't reach the FIFA Club World Cup final (they said, "and at least it was a Brazilian team.") I don’t know how it works for you South Americans who like me reside in North America. Because I live outside Brazil, for me, Brazilian nationalism is sharpened. Local rivalries never die, but I’d rather see, say, Santos defeat Peñarol or Vélez Sársfield in a Libertadores elimination match than the other way around. If I were living in Brazil, ironically, it probably wouldn’t work that way, although when I lived there, I often heard Corinthians fans say they’d support Palmeiras because they supported Brazilian soccer. This after Palmeiras eliminated Corinthians in the 1999 Libertadores (and Palmeiras went on to defeat River Plate and Deportivo Cali en route to the title). I’m not happy my team hasn’t won the Copa since 2005, but I do take some comfort in knowing that for the past 3 years, my country’s soccer has reigned supreme in the Libertadores. I’m hoping it’s a four-peat in 2013.
It's only to a certain extent with me. I would cheer anyone over Cerro and would never want them to win the Libertadores. But I wouldn't mind if Libertad won it. Same goes for my Brazilian side (SPFC and Fla) I want Brazilian teams to do well overall but would like nothing more to see Corinthians, Flu, and Vasco fail. And as you said, would be great to see Corinthians slammed 5-0 against some Central American team but at the same time it would make the Brazilian league look terrible.
