So - game thread and the inevitable question -

    Is bloody Philippe gonna start??
And if not - why not? For God's sakes...??

Win this one with a bit of authority and I think we can say we are back in the thick of the 2-4 th hunt.

Failing a City semi-meltdown I can't see them being caught.... (so start melting soon lads)

seems like no Mane tomorrow, with Lallana on the bench.

    Adam Lallana, he's winning 5-1.

Glad to see him back, hopefully he will come into this one after Salah and Firmino have put us up 2 so he can get a casual run around to get closer to match fit.

Hopefully this isn't the match which determines our transfer targets. Last Southampton scorers at An field were Lovren, Clyne and Mané!

    Oh, and just win.

Sadio Mane starts for Liverpool in this afternoon’s Premier League clash with Southampton at Anfield.

The forward has recovered from a slight reoccurrence of a recent hamstring injury to take his place in the Reds’ XI against his former club.

Jordan Henderson returns to the line-up following a thigh issue and Philippe Coutinho is back, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dejan Lovren also begin the contest.

Joel Matip is ruled out due to a knock sustained this week.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Alexander-Arnold, Klavan, Lovren, Moreno, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Coutinho, Mane, Salah, Firmino.

Subs: Karius, Milner, Gomez, Sturridge, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Can, Solanke.

Surprises: Gomez and Can both on bench (tired??) ... no Lallana to be seen ....

good to see that forward line - Phil, Mane, Mo and Bobby.

The strength of that bench really stands out to me too ,Sam especially when we consider the likes of Lallana,Matip and Clyne are unavailable. It should bode well for the very busy stretch of games we're heading into.

A Lovren and Klavan back line hardly inspires hope for a clean sheet. I hope Lovren has a confidence boosting moment early that helps him settle. I'm a bit surprised that Gomez is not starting at CB after playing well for England.

Mo Salah is making 35 million look like a pittance.
