Hilarious review of Drake's album "Take Care". http://bigghostnahmean.blogspot.com/2011/11/big-ghost-presents-take-care-review.html
LOL On a side note, Canadians have been dominating American music for some time now... it needs to stop.
Proof that hip hop fans are born, not made: http://perezitos.com/2011-11-11-notorious-big-music-soothes-crying-baby/?from=PH
A nice review of the former band I used to be in. I helped compose lots of those tracks. They're all still friends and I'm very proud. Soon they'll be touring Europe. They asked me to go along but I can't right now. Os Mutantes check this out if you like Davila. 2 members of Davila are in the band. Davila's guitarist is the singer. http://www.clubfonograma.com/2011/12/las-ardillas-las-ardillas.html Part: Despite the fact we existed about 5 years before Davila even began. Either way we're very influenced by the classic Spanish punk band Eskorbuto who are from the Basque Country.
And in vinyl as well which was one of the specific things asked for. Plus getting recognized even if it's minor, but getting to tour Europe payed by a label. It's proof you don't need to be a big group or artist or anything to do it DIY and tour ala Black Flag.
inswinger Look what I picked up in the record store the other day, finally re-released on vinyl. Thanks for that recommendation several years ago. I think I like this more than Fakebook.
That album is great. Can't believe you got it on vinyl. I had to sell my Beatles White Album on vinyl recently cause I was low on cash. It was the original with the photos inside and everything. Stole it from my uncle's collection. I got good money for it but still.
I see those pop up on eBay every so often. Apparently having a lower stamped number on it makes it worth more. Getting back into record buying is something I've been doing now that I'm not moving around as much and also not working weekends. Nothing like having a Saturday to listen to a few records and dialing up a Barça stream to watch.
What took you so long? Yes, that album has aged very well, like the band itself. I recently heard a podcast interview with YLT about their new album Fade. Judge for yourself. (the subtitles get absurd pretty fast)
Cops always trying to bust up a good thing, like chicken tortilla soup. What took me so long is that I kept trying to find the sumbitch on vinyl and after awhile it just slipped my mind. Then I stepped into Ameoba Records the other day and there it was staring at me in the face. Glad I picked it up. It definitely holds up. BTW, this fall it will be 20 years since the first time I saw YLT at the long-gone Trocadero Transfer in SF. They opened for Teenage Fanclub.
Guess I never come to NSR really besides the odd Regal Barca Basquet post, came here to see if anyone was rooting in March Madness (Go Spartans and Go Bears for me). Anyway great to find all the YLT love, see that Dr. Know is a musician, etc. My first YLT show happened by accident at Central Park's free Summer Stage thing, as I was there to see the Mekons. At the time I only knew and loved "something to do" from a soundtrack my sister had "A Matter of Degrees". This guy wrote that show up and was also blown away by the warm up band, YLT, summer of 1991: http://www.bootsdaily.com/?nav=details&id=358795
RIP Lemmy, I know his Motorhead legend is bigger than anything, but I'll always be most fond of his Hawkwind years (72-75) with Space Ritual and other great releases (which I did not discover for another ten to twelve years - I'm not quite that old) which are much more to my taste than the pure metal of Motorhead.
