Saturday, 9 November 2019 Leicester City Stadium aka the “KP” USA TV: NBC 12:30pm ET Who says Emery and Arsenal aren’t consistent? In every one of our last 4 matches we've given up leads! Resulting in 3 draws against “lesser” teams and 1 loss to the league leaders. Given that, plus all the recent turmoil with our now-ex-captain and our probably-soon-to-be-ex-head coach, expectations for this match have to be near rock bottom. We sit precariously in 5th, and quite likely will be lower than that on Sunday. If we lose at Leicester as most people would predict, then all Sheffield United has to do is draw at Spurs to go ahead of us into 5th. Not to mention that if Bournemouth, Brighton or Palace win, we could be pushed even further down into mid-table. Also if Citeh lose at Anfield, then Leicester would sit 2nd! And to think that Brendan Rodgers would want to leave that situation to join a floundering Arsenal heading for mid-table, is well... daft. Have I cheered you up? Got you in a right good mood to tune into the big network channel Saturday? p.s. I believe this is their first home game since the anniversary of the helicopter crash, so I expect there will be some poignant observance of that before KO.
If the board ever plans on getting rid of Emery, after this is the perfect time. Two-week international break followed by: Southampton (H) Eintracht Frankfurt (H) Norwich (A) Brighton (H) West Ham (A) Standard Liege (A) Dec. 15 - Manchester City (H) That's 6 games over a month that even a semi-functional Arsenal should be winning. It's reminiscent of Solskjaer at United last year. Now's the time to pull the trigger and try to instill some sort of sense of optimism at the club and among the fans. Hopefully tomorrow is the last we see of Unai.
Andrew had a Leicester blogger on the Arsecast today. He said Caglar Soyuncu was their most valuable player so far. Arsenal strongly linked to Soyuncu in the summer of 2018, but they passed and he went to Leicester for 16.2m. He didn't play much last year but has basically replaced Maguire. It would be nice to have quality, affordable 23 yo CB who looks like Robert Z'Dar, but it is too late now.
I am...perplexed by this XI. Kolasinac on the wing? Edit: back 5 I guess, just weirdly formatted. 📋 Today's team news...🇪🇸 @HectorBellerin starts in the @PremierLeague🇫🇷 @LacazetteAlex partners @Aubameyang7 in attack🇩🇪 @MesutOzil1088 also named in starting XI#️⃣ #LEIARS— Arsenal (@Arsenal) November 9, 2019
Ozil, Auba & Laca in the XI. Could it be a 4-diamond-2, with chambers or luiz at the base?? Or more likely a back 3/5 I guess.
It’s a 352 ....auba...laca .........ozil ...torreira...guen Kol.....................bell ......hold..luiz..chambers
Guendouzi playing quite high up when we have the ball. And contributing to some immediate pressing when we lose the ball in their half. Edit: then he pulls down a player in our box and somehow doesn't get called for a PK. WTF?
That was a pretty obvious penalty conceded by Guendouzi. I'm not surprised it wasn't called through VAR because England, but that's a foul.
That's OK. Not our strategy today. We've had quite a few dangerous chances on the counter. Of course they've had even more. It's all gonna come down to which team gets its shooting boots on. Pretty open, free flowing first half. Can't complain too much.
Goal gaping and Ndidi hits the bar from 10 yards out! Dodged a serious bullet there. Seems almost certain they're going to score. So we REALLY need to get on our bikes and do likewise.
That was an awful miss from Ndidi. Off the bar from the penalty spot. Should absolutely be 1-0 to Leicester.
