Comedians in korea with their black face bits is just as bad if not worse, and it happened on air as well. This journalist is a moron, no doubt about that. But I wouldn't say italy is more racist than korea. It can be pretty bad anywhere if you look at isolated cases.
I don't know if I completely agree with you. Of course, racism is present in Korea, as much as it is anywhere else, but I also think that the media (TV programs & radio usually) makes a reasonable amount of effort to include and represent multiple races/ethnicities as well as give foreigners a platform to eliminate incorrect stereotypes (ie Abnormal Summit, My Neighbour Charles, My Little Old Boy, Seoul Mate, etc). There is also a wide array of foreigners appearing on shows from Europeans (Alberto, Daniel), various Asians (many) to individuals from other developing countries (Sam Okyere, Abigail). Many of them are full-time entertainers in Korea and are truly loved by viewers. Some even play a critical role in bridging cultures (ie Sam w/ the Korean embassy in Ghana, etc.). How many other countries offer minorities/immigrants/foreigners the chance to openly talk about racial injustices they've faced on big networks like KBS, SBS, MBC? Not many I would say. Now contrast this with Western media. How many times do we see Asians on prime time American or Australian TV at all? Now, from the few times Asians ARE on TV, how many times are they fairly represented? I've never watched Italian TV but I'm sure it's probably even less than in the States or AUS. I agree, it's not fair to say that Italy is MORE racist than South Korea, but in this day and age, I disagree with the sentiment that Korea is some crazy xenophobic, racist country. The situation has vastly improved from our parents' generation. Can you imagine someone like Bae Sung Jae accusing Gyeongnam's Marcao of robbing someone in Itaewon on TV? I certainly can't, and that's why it's crazy this happened in Italy.
Ok, I'm from Verona, so: - My city and HV supporters are famous to be racist, probably one if not the most racist city in Italy; - The shithead aka journalist in the video is a completely ignorant little man with a redneck accent who work for a local ridicolous nearly amateurish tv, nothing better than a drunkard that spit his sentences at the pub; - He said that racist phrase to appear "cool" and "a man with balls" using "strong terms" to criticize HV and LSW; I hope LSW will score a lot in this WC and make this neardenthal regrets his xenophobic comment (probably not in any case but who cares). My two cents, have a great WC and try hard to hit the KO stage!
oh that makes sense. honest question though- is it just my poor grasp of the english language or is saying "aren't you ___?" carry a more accusatory tone over "are you ___?"
I hope he leaves: Hellas Verona will evaluate Lee Seung-woo's transfer value after the World Cup, but as of now, the club intend to keep him for their upcoming 2017-18 season in the Serie B, according to Hellas 1903.— Steve Han • 한만성 (@realstevescores) June 19, 2018

I hope he doesn't. It's very important for korean players to establish themselves in Serie A. You know, another league where koreans can go to.
