This kid is doomed. He's not going to become anything extraordinary out of his career. Maybe a Bojan at most.
man people making unnecessary conclusion even though it's just a very beginning of his career. I remembered Son Heungmin (18) in the beginning of his career struggled a bit even though he had a really great start in the beginning. He went through a pretty long dry spell. People thought Hwang Heechan will break through with ease when he went to Austria but in the Austrian second division he struggled as well. It took him an half of a season to start scoring goals there and when he got promoted to the first team he was so shit. I remember watching that game and he looked like he didn't belong at all. But since then he improved as well.
Or even Ki when he first went to Celtic wasn't doing so well. Players need to adjust. Lee Seungwoo showed glimpse of his talents and they were against good Italian teams as well. The player I worry about the most is Paik though, his team isn't doing that well in Spanish third division and I heard he's not helping either... Jang Gyulhee from what I've seen in his instagram is doing pretty well in Greece u20 league. Hopefully he gets promoted soon.
It's not about Lee Seung Woo getting adjusted by next season and playing better. The team is looking like it's going to be relegated, and is he going to stay in a Serie B team? Would any Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga, or Premier League team want him as a starter at all based on current performances? If he stays at the Serie B team and does well, that's fine but that's not going to amount to much unless he moves forward into a better club.
all of the La Masia kids are a big sigh atm. conventional wisdom would say talent will win out when given playing time, but even that is not happening.
My feeling is that unless you are Messi or Ronaldo, talent alone does not get you to the top or even near the top. I remember Sampras talking years back that in terms of tennis playing talent, there isn't that much of a difference among the world's top 20 players. The critical difference is mental. Look at someone like LKI. His mental strength is abundantly evident (which is why I always was more excited his prospects than LSW's). LSW may be small physically but there are many other players his size who are doing much better. Unlike LSW, they don't allow their dimunitive size to define their play on the field.
very good pts. in individual sports, the mental aspect is even greater. some players can will themselves to win. i find the biggest thing holding LSW back is immaturity. he shows it time and time again.
what are you basing this on? And wouldn't 99% of football stars be considered immature by your definition?
pray tell, by what definition have i defined it? 99% you say, quite the assumption? What do you base that on? legit question.
look man, i didnt mean to call you out like that. i just think its unfair to label him as immature when he was put into the spotlight since he was a kid.
Guys let's not be delusional though. He is very young and very raw and it shows. I can see why the coach might not trust him to start yet. Hopefully he can show more in the limited minutes he's getting.
