This thread is for discussion of Lee Nguyen's club career in Vietnam.

Please limit your comments to issues relating directly to this topic (rambling discussions about the relative merits of soccer in Vietnam vs soccer in the US have been done, and resulted in acrimony, here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=941321, so we don't want a repeat).

Thanks for opening a new thread about Lee Nguyen and his performance in Vietnam. I hope we all won't go off the topic, even though it is unavoidable sometimes.
Back to Lee, people said he has been trying hard on the training field and on the pitch. He's getting better and better. They all believe he would play extremely well starting from 6th or 7th round.

this is funny. He was booked once before the goal. He celebrated the goal by taking off the jersey --> was booked again, just now --> he is out.

    - First, HAGL won the game in the 92nd minute. 3-2 is the final score
    - The second yellow cards of Lee shows two things:

    • He acted unprofessionally by taking off the jersey, especially he was already booked.
    • He has been under huge pressure to play well and to score. That could be the reason why he took off his jersey.
    - Evaldo scored his second goal in two consecutive games. All his goals were in the last minute of the game, and all are the winning goals.

    - Lee played well before being sent off. He showed that he could play far better when he gets over the pressure.

Lee was stupid to get sent off. Every player knows you will get booked for taking off your shirt, and he was already booked. Good that he scored but what an idiot move.

I missed the entire discussion when he went to Vietnam. Could someone tell me how much he's making?

That's not bad, especially since it doesn't include other likely incentives such as housing, bonuses, etc.

I would think you could live very well in Vietnam on a salary like that. Best of luck to him.

BTW, I've got to spread some rep around before giving it to you again. But thanks for the info.

Steve Morron, his first football coach in the States, visited Vietnam to watch Lee's performance. People believed that his visit gave Lee much inspiration.

If you put yourself in Lee's shoes, you might be able to understand why he did so. Such a huge pressure relieved.

I can totally understand why Lee celebrated his goal, expecially since his old coach was in the stands too. Still, it was a very poor decision.

Lee was talking to Steve Morron, his old coach. Wasn't the coach wearing an Arsenal shirt?

No, it is HAGL's shirt. HAGL's allowed to use Arsenal logo on its uniform as a result of collaboration with Arsenal. Steve is treated as a special guest at HAGL FC.
