Season hasn't started yet. It'll be two groups (North and South) again.

Salam Zgharta has contracted with European company, Greenfields, for a new artificial turf pitch at a cost of $238,000. The new pitch will be ready in December 2008.

Also it has appointed a new coach, Nicholas Philibert from France.

Does anyone know anything about the new coach?

Also when is the deadline for the transfer of new players, including overseas players?

I saw on Al jazeera once, that people who weren´t allowed to go to the stadium, watched "illegal" the match from a bridge next to the stadium. Is this correct what they told? But good that people can come now.i am sure that the bigger clubs like Ansar have many fans.:)

Do the bigger clubs in Beirut particularly have solid academies and reserve ranks to work up through, and is it hard to get trials with them? I'm considering going to AUB for a year straight out of high school (I graduate this year) and I'll have just turned 18 when I arrive (hypothetically). I'm also looking to play for AUB itself if at all possible. I'm just interested in options, all help is great!

Yep that's available. At your age, you can play at the U-20 League (دوري الآمال). Getting a trial shouldn't be a problem either, you just need to get information from the clubs when you're in Beirut.

You can also contract the Lebanese Football Federation (libanfa@cyberia.net.lb) for further informations.

Okay cool, thanks. I was having trouble reading the clubs websites in Arabic, although I think on Ansar site it said an english version will be up soon.

yeah there are academies... if you think you are good enough you can get a try out easily... i dont know much AUB and university soccer, but having played for sagesse they usually give out trials to youngsters...also when i was down in lebanon this summer... i was offered a trial with homenmen ... so options are open ...you need to know people ... nejme have very good youngsters.... you also could be interested in playing futsal its really popular there and they have very good players ... i think AUB have a futsal team ...

As expected, the government is against the decision made by the federation. They'll postpone the final decision until after ramadan...
