Georgetown Jr. GK JT Marcinkowski is signing a homegrown contract with the San Jose Earthquakes. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...to-sign-with-mls-club/?utm_term=.2c183faa2920 To the best of my knowledge, this is the first departure of the year.
Whether causation, or correlation Williamson & Maryland fell off the map at the end of the season. I'll have to see more to rate him.
New Mexico Jr. M/D Aaron Herrera is signing a homegrown deal with Real Salt Lake. https://www.rsl.com/post/2017/12/15/rsl-signs-homegrown-and-us-u-20-world-cup-defender-aaron-herrera For those keeping track, there were three players from last summer's US U20 WC team playing college soccer this fall: JT Marcinkowski, Eryk Williamson and Herrera. All three have signed pro deals or signed with an agent in the past couple of weeks.
Here are the remaining amateurs from that pool: Bashti Amir Bell Jonathan Borges Marcello Burns David Elney Sebastian Gutjahr Jeremiah Hinds Nicholas "Nick" Jones Malcolm Kelly Jeremy Lindley Cameron Lopez Leo Martin Henry Morris Jake Nelson John Onalfo Christian Pelaez Pablo Pineda Mauricio Poarch Chad Popovic Nebojsa "Nash" Salas Martin Silva Diego Suddoth Toni Terwege Brandon Toye Mason Waldrep Evan Williamson Eryk Wilson Sean Winter Abu

Leo Lopez was a mystery when he was called up and remains one. Can't find any college info on him. Jake Morris was on track to graduate from HS last summer but did not matriculate anywhere. Last heard with the Sounders academy and Sounders 2. Not sure if he signed a permanent pro deal. Silva played at Maryland for 2 years and did well when he was healthy but that wasn't a lot. Wasn't on the roster this season and could find no record of him transferring anywhere. Winter played a season at D-II Palm Beach Atlantic but wasn't on their roster this season. Besides Williamson, I think the most likely players to go pro from this list this winter or spring are Borges, Lindley, Pelaez, Pineda, Terwege and Toye.
Good post, thanks. It looks like Lopez may have taken the USSDA "gap year," since he played a couple of fall games for PA Classics. However, he doesn't seem to be their primary GK, so something else could be going on there. It's possible Suddoth is already a pro. I would guess not, but don't really no.
Wake Forest freshman MF Brandon Servania signs a homegrown deal with FC Dallas. https://www.fcdallas.com/post/2018/01/03/fc-dallas-signs-homegrown-midfielder-brandon-servania

Here are the 6 GA players leaving early, Mo Adams, Syracuse SO Francis Atuahene, Michigan JR Joao Mouthinho, Akron, FR Ema Twumasi, Wake Forest, JR Mason Toye, Indiana, FR Gordon Wild, Maryland, JR https://www.mlssoccer.com/mlssoccer.com/generation-adidas/2018
Wild was definitely signed based on 2016 not this past season. I really like Twumasi so I think this is a good signing. Atuahene's talent isn't in question, just his ability to stay on the field. Moutinho and Toye had strong freshman years and, in Joao's case, he's already a little older so this makes sense. Strike while you can. I've never seen Adams play but he seems to be well-regarded. I think this is the 4th straight year Syracuse has had a player in the GA class. (Bono, Buscher, Robinson). Hard not to notice that only one of these guys is American. Sign o' the times.
Sign o’ the TImes. You are a Prince among men. Is the GA class listed above the 2018 class, or the 2017 class?
Updated list. It's a pretty good talent drain. Mo Adams, Soph. Not official yet but Wake appears to be about to lose another... In #MLS news, I’m told the Philadelphia Union are signing U.S. Under-20 defender Mark McKenzie to a homegrown player deal, continuing a trend of centerbacks landing HG deals this winter (Grant Lillard, Kris Reaves, Kevin Politz)— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) January 11, 2018
This doesn't surprise me. He was very good filling in for the injured Politz and with National team experience, a homegrown deal makes a lot of sense. Huge loss for Wake if this is true. Itll be interesting to see if Justin Mcmaster gets signed as well. This would be the third Wake commit from that Union academy class that decided to forgo their college eligibility (Matthew Real decided to play with Bethlehem Steel weeks before he arrived at Wake for his freshman season.)

Now they're leaving early, too. Six of the seven GA kids are international.

Multiple posts on twitter saying that Orlando has swung a trade with Chicago for the homegrown rights to UNC soph. MF Cam Lindley. No word yet on whether Orlando has signed Lindley but doubtful they'd trade for those rights to keep him in college for a year, but, ya never know.
