Still no Benz or Ben Arfa but Lacazette and Fekir got called up. Interesting.

It's my understanding that Benzema is injured. To be honest, I think he and Ben Arfa will continue to suffer because of their bad boy reputations. I'm not sure we need them. Even though we fell short of becoming European champions this summer, I very much like how France's attack works. It's good to see Lacazette and Fekir back. There is so much talent coming out of France right now that some egos are going to get bruised inevitably. Kudos to Deschamps for giving the young full-backs a chance to prove their worth. Here's hoping that they go on to emulate some of their illustrious predecessors.

Fekir still doesnt appear to be at full strength following his ACL injury but hopefully he will be as good as before.

Kurzawa is banging goals in and playing with a lot of confidence.

I used to like Matuidi a lot, but he disappointed at the Euros. He looked tired. It appears that he is considering a move to Juve as Pogba's replacement. At 29 years of age, he can't have too many years left as a top box-to-box midfielder.

Recovering from an ACL injury is almost always a convoluted process -- just ask Theo Walcott.

I just hope the likes of Kurzawa and Corchia can make the requisite leap to become world-class full-backs.

Nice result against Italy. Above all France took advantage of their chances. And I was pleasantly surprised to read that Giroud has scored 11 goals in his last 13 France appearances!

Yes, Giroud has been on a tear of late. It seems that with the NT he plays with a lot less pressure than he does at Arsenal. Also, it's kind of hard not to score with the amount of creativity in the French set-up.

Good match against Italy but I can also say Sidibé is NOT National Team material!!!!
    Corchia is 100 times better!!!

It's just nice to see Deschamps testing out new fullbacks. I was disappointed with some of Kurzawa's defending but given his attacking strengths he did a great job and will probably only get better.

He needed to try out the younger full-backs in view of the World Cup. Evra and Sagna need to retire. I foresee Kurzawa becoming one of the best left-backs in the world in 3-4 years.

Gamiero coming on. Lets see if he can run at the tired defense.

Uggh. You sense that Giroud would have finished that off with his head.

There's something about those defensive eastern-european teams that France always struggles to score against.

We got a point. Looks like Bulgaria lead the group after their injury time win over Luxembourg. We play Bulgaria next at Stade de France next month. We'll have to take care of business. There is a long way to go...

I liked what Dembele brought to the table when he came on. Martial does not look like he is enjoying playing for club or country. He is doing nothing.

A healthy Payet always makes a difference but I don't need to tell you fine people that.
