Portland Timbers academy midfielder Lawson Sunderland has moved to Levante in Valencia, Spain, according to TopDrawerSoccer: https://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-player-profile/lawson-sunderland/pid-97072 USSDA profile: http://port.ussoccerda.com/sam/teams/index.php?team=1433527&player=36514054 DOB: 11/7/2001 He appears to be originally from the Chicago area and played in Chicago Fire's academy, before moving to Portland. He was a regular with Timbers U15/16 this past year. Twitter: first preseason with levante pic.twitter.com/YwKe06cwTk— Lawson Sunderland (@Lsunderland8) August 5, 2017 His bio says he's with the Juvenils, which likely means U17 if it's Juvenil C. As for a Euro passport, his name may hint at English roots, though that is just speculation.
Interestingly, his dad is Portland's youth technical director, hence Lawson's 2015 move from Chicago to Portland. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015...cago-fire-academy-boss-larry-sunderland-youth EDIT: Also, he doesn't turn 16 until November so one wonders whether this deal is unofficial until the winter [assuming he has an appropriate second passport] or whether a family member is moving with him.

Interesting that nothing in his background hints at a foreign roots and his accent is pretty much Yank all the way.
No accent that I can hear. I do have to admit I thought he was going to start breaking into a Scottish brogue with that hairdoo.
happy to get my first goal with levante, hoping for more 🔴🔵 pic.twitter.com/GTfSC3VYFu— Lawson Sunderland (@Lsunderland8) October 27, 2017

It's interesting, his profile picture is still him in a Levante kit, in his bio he says he's with the Portland Timbers Academy and he's tweeting about him playing for Sabadell. Who knows where he is, maybe this is just a trial of some sorts?
