I kind of meant watch on TV, much like the fan base of the Colorado Rockies. I just find it funny how everybody jumps on Sacramento and Indy, yet they have less than a year of history. Meanwhile they'll turn around and say no fan base for a team that doesn't exist, which was those two teams, two years ago.
Listened to Soccer Morning podcast. Jason had a guest who reports Minnesota soccer. The Minneapolis bid isn't as solid as some think. The Las Vegas group got the extension they wanted. The City Council vote was 6-1. Look it up on the Review Journal or Las Vegas Sun website. BTW the Soccer Morning date was May 21st
Oh I agree. I'm not saying it would be common practice but you'd get the fanatic road trippers. And yeah, being close to San Jose is great for when LA roll through.
I... wait, what? "Member since 2001" So that's a minimum of 13 years with the internet and you've never once done a copy and paste?
Yeah, those 30 year old technologies can be tough to figure out. Forgive me if I'm skeptical. If Vegas gets a team are you going to pay for season tickets with a check? While not as difficult as using a computer, credit cards can be daunting, too. They've only been around for around 50 years.
http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...sets-sept-1-deadline-financial-plan-mls-venue The Las Vegas City Council has asked investors hoping to bring a Major League Soccer team to Las Vegas to submit a financial plan by Sept. 1 for their proposed stadium, the Las Vegas Sun reported on Wednesday.
So did I, during summer vacation i practically lived outside in the desert. I also read books and played competitive sports year round. And i didn't get the internet at home until I was 16, even though I was building my own computers by 17. In my opinion, it is slightly lazy to not fully understand how to operate technology you use every day. Like constantly having my car stereo on full blast because I just never got around to learning how to control the volume. But it's cool, anybody who rides with me can just go find some ear plugs (hooray for metaphors!) If you can right-click a mouse you can copy-paste. My dad is 61 and even when he was completely computer illiterate some years ago (still kind of is) he knew basic functions like copy-paste, cut, CTRL+ALT+DEL, etc. I mean absolutely no disrespect to the older generation. This is just a very minor part of the large annoyance that is people not at least trying to understand new societal norms (this doesn't apply only to seniors) and expecting others to accommodate them, thus slowing progress, i.e. the chaos that ensued when people couldn't figure out electronic voting booths. Eh only half. After a couple of weeks out of town doing exhausting 14-hour days, you'd be amazed at how easy it is for one of your pet peeves to get to you. I'll say no more on the topic.
I don't think there's a cutoff. But a billionaire won't invest 100 mil or more into the 50th best option. He will figure out which options promise the best return on investment. And it will be a big market or a very promising mid-sized market. It won't be a tiny market, or a mid-sized oversaturated market (too many other teams), or a mid-sized market with no public funding for stadium. In general, I think if you take some 20 biggest markets without an MLS team, that's a good starting point. Then you could narrow it down to maybe 10 by looking at market saturation. There are several disposable income studies that could be used for that. I think that would be a pretty decent list of where investors might prefer to look next. Obviously, there are plenty of other factors that might exclude some of these options, but it's a good start. By the way, of the top 20 markets without an MLS team this season, Sacramento, Miami, San Antonio and Orlando are the 4 that top the list in disposable income.
Yes, everything he has told me about soccer in Vegas has been true. He told me months ahead of time who the MLS investors were. That the local downtown buissnes men were opposed if there is a tax that they have to pay for funding. He personally doesn't think it will get done. But there is a group who wants at least a USL Pro team. With two competing stadium projects in the works one is bound to be doomed. But the city wants a team. The buisneses people want as long as it cost them much. I've known Nick before he was on Fox Football Friday. When he used to be on the radio with Steven Cohen.
We all know I'm not teck savy. We all know the "gentleman " derided it. But could someone please help me out and publish the link to this article. It was in the Las Vegas Review Journal May 24,2014. It is titled " City of Las Vegas turns suitor's attention toward Major League Soccer"
Here it is http://m.reviewjournal.com/business...suitor-s-attention-toward-major-league-soccer If done right, soccer stadium can lead to other sports http://lasvegassun.com/news/2014/may/22/if-done-right-mls-soccer-team-could-help-/ CITY OF LAS VEGAS TURNS SUITOR’S ATTENTION TOWARD MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER http://m.reviewjournal.com/business...suitor-s-attention-toward-major-league-soccer
