Adelson/Sands pulled out of Raiders Dome deal. That was the Beckham connection so those rumors are 100% dead.
Beckham was tied to Adelson directly or to the stadium? Because the Las Vegas NFL stadium actually comes closer to reality absent Adelson since the Raiders bid didn't even include him. They're now going to partner with Goldman Sachs as they probably always planned to. Adelson seems to have been used by the pumpkin pie haircut little freak who owns the Raiders. But yeah Beckham does seem to be the only way Vegas gets an MLS team seeing as they didn't bid for any of the other 4 open spots.
Not what we're hearing currently, it's very fluid. Just got off the phone with Goldman Sachs reps, who say GS had deal to finance LV stadium with Adelson AND Raiders. With no Adelson, no deal— Vince Sapienza (@VinceSapienza) January 31, 2017 Beckham has business ties to Sands, which is basically Adelman.
Interesting. Wonder if the Raiders and NFL were misinterpreting/misrepresenting Goldman then. Because they've been stating for weeks the plan is not dependent on Adelson at all and would go ahead with or without him. He's not the only one reporting that either. Well looks like the Raiders stadium in Vegas just came back from the dead. http://raiderswire.usatoday.com/201...plete-financing-on-raiders-las-vegas-stadium/ Bank of America is going to be financing the $600 million portion that Goldman was going to finance. The NFL will be voting on this at the end of the month. And odds were good with Goldman involved. No reason to assume they won't be with BofA as well unless info to the contrary comes out.
USL coming to town: https://www.socceramerica.com/artic...gas-council-agenda-for-jul.html?edition=17479 city council will vote on July 19 to approve a stadium lease agreement for a USL expansion team to be operated by Las Vegas Soccer LLC and begin play during the 2018 season at Cashman Field.
Alright, something is finally happening. I'm glad they're going USL instead of NASL. I want to be in the same league... big potential for heated matches

Intersting article in the Guardian. Money quote from CEO/owner - ex MLS HQ staffer, ex Orlando COO - Brett Lashbrook Becoming an MLS franchise is the objective but Lashbrook is realistic. He can only bring the team so far and knows only a sustained product will lead to making that step up. As much as it goes against the Vegas ethos, slow and steady will win the race. But, just like any other show in town, the immediate concern is getting bums on seats and keeping them there. “I don’t have the money to write that big cheque,” he says. “I can get this machine started and have this great, sustainable second division club but we would need the community’s support to take it to the next level. There’s been a lot of interest in our initial success. There’s not been a shortage of people interested in supporting and working with us. But how do we get to MLS? Buy more tickets from me. It sounds so self-serving but it’s also the truth. If we fail in the USL, Major League Soccer is going to have no interest in coming here. There’s no doubt in my mind that if we put a compelling bid together they would be very keen. But we’ve got to take it one step at a time.”

If Vegas got a team, would they play in the soon to be Las Vegas stadium? Seems to be built with soccer in mind, ala Atlanta's Mercedes Benz Stadium.
Doubtful, that would mean Marc Davis would probably be in the ownership group and if I were MLS I would stay as far away from his dumb ass as possible.
