Logical conclusion from this thread: Landon will play a couple of years at Yankee Stadium and be inducted to baseball HoF after his second or third or fourth retirement.
your concept of the law is a prison. mine is a tool. MLS' history of bending/breaking rules is pretty monumental and i agree they should be more consistent and not do this....but considering the player involved...and all he has done for the sport in this country, it would be a hell of a time for MLS to put their foot down with 'a rule is a rule'.... besides, if MLS wants to break a rule in favor of a player that is one thing....and would 100% not set any type of precedent for MLS to break rules against players. you portray the situation as if the players cherish the CBA as some sort of holy covenant they must die to protect... if LD wants to play in MLS this season....MLS should do anything they can to make it happen. period. the thought of MLS standing in the way of LD playing in MLS this season would be ludicrous. PS (I think with Bruce arena now as usmnt coach, LD sees russia 2018 as a possibility and that is what is driving his comeback.....and i'm rooting for him....i think the only reason he retired was JK...and i feel sympathy for him so i want MLS to accomodate him...it's not like he'd be a charity case...i'm sure with a proper preseason, he'd be worth every penny any mls team was willing to pay him)
Only rule of law is don't get caught. MLS is supposed to be getting more transparent. This should be the most interesting MLS:Calvinball yet.
Interpretation of vague comments from people connected to the team is that the attempt to bring Donovan to Salt Lake has failed. Lots of reasons why that could be.
Jermaine Jones isn't a free agent within MLS. LA gave the Rapids the #15 pick in yesterday's SuperDraft and a conditional 2018 second round pick for the rights to Jones. http://www.denverpost.com/2016/12/13/rapids-trade-jermaine-jones-los-angeles-galaxy/
Craig Waibel on state of Donovan discussion, RSL closing in on two MLS free agents, Luis Silva and Rusnák's arrival: https://t.co/wFkbLXHyGo— Chris Kamrani (@chriskamrani) January 20, 2017 Waibel comments that talks are ongoing but not close to an agreement. Landon maybe just wants to miss two-a-days.

From right after that Tweet: Could be fun LD, let's hope this news is the same as my ATL news. 🤞🏽— Nick Rimando (@NickRimando) January 26, 2017 He's referring to the earlier rumor that he was absolutely bound for Atlanta.
Freddy barely saw any playing time, what makes you think Landon would crack the lineup? Clearly the only rational answer is Cosmos. This must happen.
"Should the San Jose Earthquakes welcome back Landon Donovan?" (Center Line Soccer - Thursday, 1/26/17) -G
I'm a fan of San Jose Earthquakes and it would be awesome if he went back to Quakes !! But all I want is to see him playing for some MLS team this year.
No news that we know of. I wish the Galaxy would add him at the last minute - they probably have the cap room!
