That's a BS call. Mattocks didn't touch him. Not surprised with this ref. He's one of the worst in the league.
Close. Dive by Ciman, handling the ball in the box, and the foul (not red btw) is called on Mattocks! Foul on Stieber? Now PK? FVCK THEM!
Because he's a gutless ref who's second guessing the red card he gave LA in the first half, and he doesn't want to give us a decision that results in a goal, instead of just calling the game he sees in front of him.
Lots of injury time - the two video reviews and the injury. Seriously we never look like we're up a man when we're up a man.
This has still been a terrible second half from DCU. You wouldn't know we were up a man if they didn't have a red card symbol over the LFC symbol. Rooney won't solve the problems we have in midfield.
I was actually fine with the decisions after the two VARs. Mattocks clipped Ciman, it was a foul. I’m encouraged by what I’ve seen over our last 180 minutes. In fact, I challenge someone to reference a better two game period of play in the last two seasons. Arriola has been stellar, Stieber and Asad provide some of the best dead ball service in the league right now, and we continue to get more out of Mattocks than he’s worth. Durkin also looks a real player. I think we are fewer pieces from being a playoff level team than many think.
That was a game best played in total darkness with Matthew Brady shooting the highlight reel. Move along folks 1-1 nothing to see
1-1 on the road against a decent team should be an acceptable result -- one worth celebrating for this team. I'll leave it at that.
You can't use VAR to call that foul though. It's not part of the rules. I also don't know for sure if I saw a clip. It's possible, but didn't seem clear.
According to some guy in another forum, once you go to review a possible penalty, everything on the sequence is reviewable. Unless the foul was what he called initially, I can’t see how a PK wasn’t given. Thx, Jay!
Interesting... According to a different guy in another forum, I heard the opposite. The fact that Elfath made the call *maybe* means your guy is righter than my guy, but it's Elfath, so who knows. I think it should be reviewable anytime there's a play in the box that's controversial. Not that they always get VAR decisions right, but I think they get more right when they use VAR when necessary. Anyway, overall, it was a good point against a top team with a great attack.
The game really changed when LAFC removed Blessing to shore up the defense. Prior to that DC rarely saw the ball. A better DC team would’ve been able to execute better and possibly win. I just can’t heap praise on a game that disintegrated into time wasting tactics (but I understand their use). Good play from Arriola, Stieber, and Acosta. Dueling was a hot mess but he’s young and allowed inconsistency. Ousted is our GK. James p.s. a full strength LAFC scores at least 3 on DC.
That strikes me as a bit far fetched. What I'm starting to realized s that the head ref and his VAR assistant need to have some more time working together. If the VAR person is slow in communicating it makes the ref look a fool which most of the time needs no outside help. VAR will work itself out over time.
