Somebody should forceably drag some DCU FO big shots to Bank of Cali and make them take-in that amazing "90210" safe-standing End. Then invite some of their LAFC FO opposite numbers to explain the marketing rationale behind it. I'd pay to see all the looks on everyones' faces.
Away fans are usually seated in section 217. I haven't been up there but you have a pretty good view of the field.
This whole thing irritates me. I planned on going to this game when it was on Memorial Day. Then when it moved to Tuesday, it completely put my schedule off, so I could not go. And then it changes to Saturday AFTER I have already made alternate plans for that weekend. I mean, seriously. What a joke.
Rooney? What about Buffon? He hasn't signed with anyone yet. Neymar isn't a player on the team yet either. If you want it to be about just the game keep the FIRST post just about the game
On a positive note LAFC had a Tuesday night friendly against Borrsa Dortmund. Bad news is it was the most entertaining soccer I’ve see this year outside a couple of Champions League games. If FS2 replays it, DVR that thing and just enjoy the second stringers going at it in the second half.
Yet there were several people in the weekly MLS thread (the majority of those posting there) trashing the quality of the game. Complete and utter morons.
Subtext: This marks Bob's first match against a Levien-owned team since "The First and Last Ever American Coach In the Premier League" situation.
I was surprised. I've always thought that LAFC lacked depth (and they may against a team not jet lagged) but at least the overall team tactics and play are clearly executed (though not as sharp or fast) after many of the starters are subbed out. Even if they suffer for it in the near term with starters on WC duty the second half of the season will see many more game fit and sharp subs available for use. James
1) They have a player with the first name Shaft. Who does that? 2) They have Jacovic. If he starts, I suggest Karch Kiraly of playing at the weak link. He's it. I don't care who else is on the field. He is it. We know this from experience. 3) Blessing and Acosta make the All-11- Mini-Me team.
... which doesn't even take into account Andre Horta, who is now on his way over. The dude was the Portuguese top league's midfielder of the month, for the month of March. This team will be a dangerous one come playoff time.
If I had started the thread I would have also said 3-1. But since I didn't, I'm going with a one-goal loss, with their game winning goal coming after 80 minutes.
Is Urena still hurt for LAFC? From what I've seen, they don't have a real 9 to replace him. But for God's sake, don't leave Vela. Or Rossi to a slightly lesser extent. If you can contain those two, you've got a good shot.
↑ "Please keep thread discussion to this match. We know the FO sucks and you hate them. We know Audi Field sucks and you hate it. Let's focus on the 3 points in here. So which was the joke? I hope you can get the deposit back on your congratulatory parade in honor of your Pulitzer winning write up. If you keep your discussions on the match as you suggest some but not many, will follow.
They picked up a #9 from the English Championship. A sometimeish Norwegian international named Adama Diomande. He played, and looked pretty darn good, in the friendly against Dortmund. He came off after 25 minutes, along with Vela.
Damn, I missed posting on the last game-thread and my usual prediction of 3-1 DCU actually came true. Perhaps I should have taken that hint and not posted in this thread either But I'm really bad at hints. We are undefeated in California!! DCU - 2 (we should have scored 6) Chivas Jr - 1 (they should have scored 7) I had no idea when this game was, I thought it was still Tuesday - but I'm not alone, the NewsChannel8 guide on DirecTV has my "season-pass" for the DCU Postgame show set to record on Sunday night. You know you pretty much asked for it and I'd even say it happened before the first reply Is Rooney traveling to L.A. with the team in the coach section of a small cross-country jet to see what life might be like if he decides to sign?
I think there was a continent between Rooney and our coaching staff. He probably talked to Benny by phone. If he signs, I can hardly wait for his first experience with our crack coaching staff. He will have to ponder the vast difference between the Premier League, which fires well-credentialed coaches routinely, and DC United, who have stuck with a first-time coach for years despite an indifferent to poor record.
