Imagine making a pretty serious accusation, announcing you'll back it up with video evidence, later posting your 'evidence', then saying 'oh nevermind nothing racist here, my bad, but it HAS happened' and moving on. LOL. pic.twitter.com/UFcx83Tbsj— a.m (@acosta19LA) August 26, 2018
Wow, it is a piece of shit move. Unfortunately some LAG fans aren't angels either. It's unfortunate that the bad apples get the spotlight because I've seen pics of LAG and LAFC fans together. Some are family members, some are friends and in the end, both fans love their teams. I'm sure we can find common ground with them in other areas. I repped this but now that I think about it, there are cool green-colored characters like The Incredible Hulk, Kermit the Frog, Shrek, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Yoda. LAG: We're inclusive!
They really are fake news. Tried so hard to paint us as the suburban soccer mom. That didn't work so well, now it's the alt right image?
I welcome all our green friends to the game. And I welcome all the green cash our LAFC neighbors gave to the Galaxy on Friday....
PS - Because I work in the world of trendy hipsters, I have a lot of LAFC-fan friends and work acquaintances. I really think it's the Chivas 3.0 fans who are the trouble-makers and trying to make it seem like they are the "real" LA fans and talking so much. "I think thou doth protest too much" seems to apply to them. It seems to me the majority of LAFC fans are just casual soccer fans who are enjoying the shiny new team and stadium. We can revisit LAFC in 23 years and see where things stand then.
I'm thinking it HAS to be the ex chivas fans who are making the noise. There is no way you just starting hating a team this much, that stuff develops over years. The animosity was there long before the black and bronze even existed. When I started following hockey I didn't dislike the Ducks right off the bat.
The only issue with 226 is that the flooring is aluminum (or whatever) and if they get to stomping it can dwarf the other home chanting that might be going on in the stadium; or annoy the fans below them and discourage them from cheering. I recall during our home CCL game against Tijuana, they stuck the traveling Xolo supporters up in sections 237 and 238. They were smallish group but they sounded like a group 10x the size.
They lost their captain today in a very MLS way...right at the climax of our season but before the European transfer window closes since his contract was up at the end of the season. I saw reports that they may have received a $500k transfer for him which, if true, is a remarkable piece of business for a guy on his way out the door in a few months regardless. Would have to hand it to them if true.
An absolutely ludicrous claim. Especially as LARS and ACB, the groups that would be chanting, are very diverse. I myself, am whiter than the aliens from Cocoon.
Somewhere Christopher Thomas is reading that, thinking "They'll never fill that in the current economic climate... I put out a very snappy ad for a Digital Associate a year ago and nothing,,,".
If you follow #LAFC or Orange County SC, this news is probably not a surprise, but it’s the end of an era of sorts for both teams https://t.co/BS4Z2D9ovp— Angels on Parade (@Angels_Parade) December 14, 2018
Oh good. OCSC’s new stadium is just up the road for me and there was no way I was going to support them as a second team while they were affiliated with LAFC. Now, outside of their meetups against Galaxy2 popping in for the occasional game could be fun.
They had a beerfest there over the summer with entrance to the Ocsc game afterwards. I refused to go in but like you said it now I can
Interested to see if another MLS team establishes an affiliation with them with the removal of homegrown territories (assuming that happened, or is still going to happen).
What the hell. Count me in for the odd game too. As I mock LAFC, I should give a small shout out to Alicia Rodriguez. She's done good work going back to the CUSA days. Now which one in the photo is Will Ferrell?
I might have a problem. I was at grand central market tonight and owner of El Salvador restaurant had LAFC hat on and I started giving him a hard time. "Wtf dude? What about Cienfuegos? Galaxy has had best el Salvadorians! " He said the hat was his son's and looked uneasy.
Yes, well we Galaxy fans might be a little defensive and respecting others right to free speech is important, but you could make an argument that wearing that hat was akin to fighting words not protected as free speech.
I just need a chill pill. Can't go around LA arguing with every douchbag with an LAFC hat on. How would I get anything done?
Conversely, free speech doesn't mean speech without challenge or rebuttal. Indeed, in my view, one of the purposes of free speech is to facilitate not just the sharing but the critique of thoughts and ideas. In short, I may not agree with your support of LAFC but I will defend to the death your right to expose yourself to merciless pisstaking.
