I’ll bet Fisher has more touches on the ball than all but maybe Acosta this season. Think about that. Nevermind his atrocious defending.
Overall - coming back from 2-0 down to get a point on the road is nice. May not have had to comeback if Mora started. Love Mattocks laying down the threats for Audi. Hopefully he’ll still get his minutes with Rooney coming in. Also just saw Mattocks goal again, he beat Kitchen the whole way for it.
It wasn't pretty, but they definitely earned the draw. Two nice goals from Stieber & Mattocks offset the 2 goals by Ibrahimovic.
This team could be pretty decent with some good fullbacks. I think Mora can handle the left. He just needs an equivalent on the right. I don’t think DeLeon is the guy either. We could get something good in return for Mattocks. I just don’t see Ben willing to play with two strikers. I’m thinking a top quality CB who can pass and win the ball to teammates. Asad baffles me. He’s a pretty good player but sometimes he just doesn’t hustle. Other times he’ll run 70 yards to chase somebody down.
Good game! In the second half, they looked like a team that could keep the ball on the floor and play through the middle. Great goal from Mattocks, great celebration. Robinson was more confident, to good effect. I choose to be excited by his prospects. Maybe Durkin's best game. I'm good with Harkes as depth, that's not a put down. I'm comfortable with him in the game and I think he's a quality player. Asad was my motm, he was electric in the second half. Once he got his measure of LA (Cole, LA in general a little bit slow), he was toying with them.
Another positive by the team was the patience they showed in keeping the pace slow. It allowed them to take safer routes in transition from defense to mid-field-consolidation to attack.
Mattocks in his interview seemed genuinely excited when he said Wayne was waiting to join them...and he prob stands to lose the most personally. Whatever you think of the transfer, it’s a great sign if the players are excited to play with him. Also thought Acosta looked good on the wing. Our 4 attacking mids can all really play any of the 3 spots, which is useful. Gives us more flexibility also on who they can include if they want to use Rooney in midfield.
I believe Chris Korb joined the coaching staff at McLean Youth Soccer this past spring. Others on staff at McLean in various capacities include Jaime Moreno, Jamil Walker, and Cindi Harkes...
Not the greatest game of soccer ever played, but we showed some real heart and the goals were good. Whatever the formation we go with once Rooney is in the mix, Acosta and Steiber both need to be on the field. Happy for Mattocks--he's a smart, hard-working forward who just doesn't have the consistently lethal touch in front of goal to be a truly quality forward, but he puts in the work and makes the right decisions; and that was a great strike under pressure.
It was a really great goal that now gives him a career high in goals in a season (8!) with 20 games left to go. Even with Rooney here, Mattocks will get plenty of minutes down the stretch.

[/QUOTE] I would add Arriola to that list. I know Harkes started in his place only because of concerns about Paul's recovery from injury, but I have yet to see Harkes really establish himself as a force in midfield, whereas an opponent has to account for Arriola or risk getting burned.

PS I was editing my post when you were quoting it which is why the it isn't formatting correctly--sorry about that!
