Re: Season 1988-89 Why were these stars not be rated ? Many of them played for a full season or almost full.
Re: Season 1988-89 All players are rated in any match (unless they are substituted early on or come on as a sub in the end of a game), but I assume given the experiences with El Grafico that they will be excluded in the final rankings if the player played less than the required amount of games or did not end up with a good overall rating. El Grafico usually posted the top 15-20 players in their final ranking. For La Liga, Msioux is posting the top 50 ranked players.

Stars not rated as top class in any season Thanks mates In fact, both answered well, why those star players don't make the top list: top-50 for Don Balon and top-20 in Mundo Deportivo in the same season: - One, is the player don't get enough matches to be ranked (i.e Maradona in his two seasons in Barcelona). If he had few minutes on pitch, also counts against him like Vegan10 said. - Two, his overall rating is not higher enough to be in the top list (i.e Lineker in his last seasons in Barcelona) In both cases, i listed the most prominent names that played in the season that weren't top by Don Balon or Mundo Deportivo.

Re: Stars not rated as top class in any season One has to note that despite not appearing in any top-50 list, these players that were not ranked were still rated in the matches they featured in. So, for example, if a player only featured in 15 matches, he still could have had a high rating but it won’t reflect in a final ranking list. The only way to know what rating these guys had is to search for the articles of the match-reports that were played in certain rounds that they competed in.

Thanks mate, I tried to list some recognized players that didn't make the top-50 list in Don Balon rankings, neither the top-20 in Mundo Deportivo, for each season. Some examples were: - Lineker at Barca, due to low performances, since he was move from CF role - Maradona at Barca, since he played few matches in every season. - Recognized players in minor NT (Magico Gonzalez, Szendrei, etc.) BTW, what do you mean with following the PD?

Great thread. I like these La Liga Teams of the Year. La Liga was better in this era when it came to a title race. Aside from that period when Real won five-in-a-row, at least the Basque teams had a chance of winning the title. Supposedly, they were defensive sides though or they were known for their hard work than their flair.
