@barroldinho i saw the crazy response as well. No matter what happens, USMNT fans will never be happy. Wasn’t our strong suit not being possession based? Now we’re mad? Because it’s Canada? Would have been cool against France? It seems like we always have to compare ourselves to whatever national team is winning games, and that’s always a recipe for disaster. I’m going to try really hard to watch the next game in its entirety.
The US played style that somewhat reminded me of 2010 under Bradley without all of the bunker ball. They countered a lot (not always successfully) with both through balls and over the top route 1 stuff. They also had 2 goals off of set pieces.
I want to second Berks's comments. It was one of the best games I have seen from Lletget in a long time. He overdribbled a bit, but was all over the field.
The attendance looked similar to a that at my daughters' frosh/soph games. The field looked like an AYSO field at an elementary school. The play from the US was poor. I think Friday 's line-up was superior. I had a hard time staying interested.
I started watching around the 60th min. One of the commentators (John strong?) was so bored by the game that he asked Holden if he wanted to talk about MLS Cup for the remainder of the game because so little was happening. Heard that, and immediately tuned out
I saw the last 15 seconds. Maybe a little less. I happened to notice it listed on my DTV, switched to it and then the final whistle blew.
The game was held on Grand Cayman Island. Even if the entire island turned out for the game, the attendance would still be less than the number of people who attended MLS Cup in Seattle.
I'll bite, why would anyone in their right mind, schedule a match there versus Havana or any other city in Cuba? While US citizen tourists can't go there, athletic competitions are an allowed exception.
There are issues with the national stadium in Cuba. It doesn't currently meet FIFA criteria to host international matches. Or at least something of that nature.
Why would that be an issue? IS Soccer apparently has no problem with the pitch at Yankee stadium and I doubt it meets those standards without a special tape measure. I have read claims that it really measures a nonregulation 68x106.
International matches have stricter requirements for field size. Minimum size for international matches is 70 x 110 yards. As far as I know, we've never played an international match at Yankee Stadium, have we?
January Camp - Julian Araujo and Sebastian Lletget called in https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...ary-camp-at-start-of-important-year-for-usmnt edit: probably belongs in a 2020 thread, but i didnt see one and i'm inherently lazy
