Pulisic only player near Donovan in creating goals for others. Arguably only 2 true playmakers for USMNT history. His assist rate = Messi's. pic.twitter.com/FCxjqY5udn— Tutul Rahman (@tutulismyname) July 27, 2017
He's got 8 assists and 6 goals in 31 NT caps. That's tied on assists with Jermaine Jones and Hugo Perez all-time, and more than Graham Zusi or Sacha Kjlestan. He also has more goals all-time than Graham Zusi, Charlie Davies, Aron Johannsson and is tied with Twellman and Herc Gomez. In 36 caps.
Well, fellow Galaxy fans, finishing up a vacation in a motel in Utah, enroute to home. Got here in time to tune in ESPN and watch the Costa Rica/USA game. Looking forward to it!! Start of the Labor Day weekend, who's with me?
::crickets:: Well, the goal from Costa Rica sucks, agreed with Twellman's analysis, too much space in the center of the back. Don't know why Omar is not in there - or if he's on the bench. Too bad about the non-called penalty call, that looked like an easy call. Plus the red-card foul from Guzman on Nagbe. Concacaf sucks. 39th minute - we need a couple of goals! And no more against.
Figures that a Slum Jose Earthquake would do the damage. Howard could have done better on it. Tim Reame over Omar? I know Reame plays in the mighty EPL, but come on.
I don't know who Tim Reame is but Tim Ream plays in the Championship and hasn't played in the EPL since 2012.
Thanks for the spelling correction. Can you spell bfd? Championship make the decision to start Ream even more mystifying.
Disappointing so far. Costa Rica has been the better team by far. I don't see the US getting a goal without a significant change.
Well, that was truly terrible. Poor in central defense. Passing bad. I also blame Arena - he is not at his best when the team goes down, and made no adjustments. The offense looked very disorganized. How disappointing! Now to go break down a bunker in Honduras, against a team who was humiliated last game against us and will want revenge.
despite the score, who was the numbnut who thought playing Costa RIca in New York would be a good idea, Costa RIca has a strong presence in New York, this game should have been played in the PNW or Wisconsin/Minnesota this team doesn't deserve to go to Russia but because COCACAF is so shitty, they'll probably sneak in
We underestimated Costa Rica. Plain and simple. We paid for it. Disappointed by the defense, Jozy and Dempsey. 6-0 overall against CR in qualifying. We're maybe the 3rd best team in our region.
I don't think we underestimated Costa Rica. The center backs just messed up badly today. They did not pay attention to Urena. Cameron and Ream are too similar in the way they play. Both tried to spring attacks and both were more focused on pushing forward which allowed Urena to float in open space. Costa Rica countered us twice, and scored twice. It was a mistake by our defenders today. I thought we were doing well for the most part and were unlucky not to get a goal. People are calling for Bruce to get sacked. It's crazy. He goes undefeated for 14 games and then 1 loss and suddenly we are so terrible and Bruce has lost the plot.
The mistakes of the defense have been pointed out. But offense let us down as well. Pullisic is going to learn that he's playing in CONCACAF. You can't dribble, dribble, dribble...and then dribble some more. You'll get your ankles broke. And every time you're kicked, you're not going to get a call. And this team badly, badly needs a consistent final ball in the box. We haven't had a consistent final ball since LD retired. (I won't even mention how badly we need a leader who will take this team on his shoulders and drive it forward and will it to win) And Dempsey is very, very lucky he didn't get a straight red. We better get our act together. And I'm still angry in Klinsmann for setting us up so badly in the first place. Oh, and Fabian Johnson still sucks. I thought Nagbe played well and tried to playmake.
