Congrats, Clint! (Even if you toppling Landon's record is only a reminder of how he was screwed out his NT career by an egomaniac!)
Seeing the impact he has made off the bench, which is the perfect role for him now, and thinking what LD could have done in a similar role. Makes me sick. Why did Klinsi come along when he did.
He was indeed excellent tonight. Much better than his previous games and much better than Omar tonight. That said, this partnership looks solid and I suspect they will be in there for the final.
Exactly my thoughts. What a weapon Landon would have been as a fresh legged late sub. Both his play itself and the energy he would bring after his previous WC heroics. Water under the bridge though.
Thank god we're back to playing well. If I were watching the Galaxy and a Klinsmann coached USMNT right now I think I would have gone insane.
Glad to see the team build through the tournament, and they had a solid game tonight. Costa Rica is a top team and we had to earn the win. Congratulations to Clint Dempsey, who not only broke a scoring record, but made our win possible with his play. He looked really happy out there during and after the game. It's his moment. If he breaks the record in the final that will be "gold".
Joking aside, Dempsey's an all-time great and will get to out the way he should. Has an opportunity to score against Mexico in a Final and lift one of the few trophies this team can win, something Jurgen undervalued. And unless his heart is literally outside his chest come next May, Bruce will have him in Russia, as it should've been with Landon.
And another upset for Jamaica. Wow. MLS has really raised the standard in CONCACAF. Think Gyasi's chances of seeing the final just got raised over 90%.
I had to laugh: Brian StrausVerified account @BrianStraus 3m3 minutes ago Heading into final, golden boot leaders are a 16-year-old and a guy whose country of 390K ppl isn't a FIFA member. 1 goal back - Omar G.

Good bye you won't be missed. I don't care about him or Chandler I welcome Dom D with open arms and jGonz.
I really don't think it's that bad. I haven't had any problem with Johnson in a USA shirt. He has done well for USA and has committed himself. Johnson only playing the important matches is not something to get on his case for. Flying thousands of miles for a meaningless friendly is tiring. We know what we get from Johnson so he isn't some fringe player who needs to prove himself. When fit, Johnson is definitely either player wing or full back. To me this just sounds like he is keeping the door open. He is going to be 30 and wingers decline a lot quicker. If Johnson wants to focus on keeping his club career alive, so be it.
Miazga quote about Arena, from SA article: He does know what the return of Arena has meant for the U.S. team as well as himself. "He's been around the game a long time and obviously won a lot of titles and games and all that good stuff," said Miazga. "This is my first time working with him and any time I work with a new coach it's good to learn and hear a new perspective, get some different insights and different ideas, and tactics and philosophies about the game and in general. "He sets the mood good in the changing room and around the team and around the camp. He likes to tell jokes and be a good guy, easy to talk to. He's always catching up with guys and speaking to them off the field about their lives. On the field, he does his thing and sets it up well. He knows what he's doing." I realize most potential Nat players will butter up the coach from time to time. Still no one would ever say these things about JK (or Onalfo).
