Well a big part of the identity of Pumas is it's Cantera, it's youth system, the same youth system that gave to Mexico some of it's most brilliant players, players like; Manuel Negrete, Claudio Suárez, Luis García, Jorge Campos, Miguel España, Chucho Ramírez, Alberto García Aspe, of course the great Hugo Sánchez, and that's just to name a few.

This thread is devoted to the young players working in Cantera, players that are just starting or would start to shine with the first team in the future. Feel free to comment about any of our young talents or post your opinions about La Cantera.

I wan't to start this thread with a nice article wrote by a journalist of El Clarín, one of the most prestigious newspapers in Argentina, the name of the article is "El máximo orgullo de Pumas", please enjoy:

    Now the kids.

I'm gonna post the names of the most interesting prospects working right now in Cantera, some are already shinning, some are unknown, but all of them are talented:

    1) Fernando Morales, this lefty has created a lot of expectation around him in the last few weeks with his performances. The guy knows how to play forward, wing and left back, maybe he's not too fast, but some times it looks like he has the ball glued to his feet. Has been called to the U21 NT, and his face is becoming more and more of a constant in the starting lineups of the first division team.

2)Jehu Chiapas, people that knows him say that he has yet to explode in first division, a great defender who has showed lots of class in lower divisions, this kid has called the attention of the U21 NT coach Pablo Luna.

3)Hector Moreno, one of the U17 World Champs from Perú, this kid that goes by the nickname of "El Grande", is a tough central defender, he might lack the nerve of most veteran players, but his great defensive skills are making him slowly but surely a player of the first team.

4)Daniel Alanís, a 20 year old striker that has yet to show his game in first division, has speed, and playmaking ability. Is considering a prospect for the U21 as well.

5)Salvador Medina, is an 18 year old midfielder with creativity an potential to become a 10, he's currently playing with Pumas Prepa in second division, something odd for a player his age that should be in third, but his characteristics and the level of his game helped him to jump a category. The people in Cantera are waiting a lot from this kid.

6)Maher Vera, this kid is a weird case, he arrived this year to the institution, directly from the reserve of Palestino de Chile. Is mexican of course but his case is similar to Nery Castillo, because he's the son of a former football player, the chilenian Juan Carlos Vera, former player of Pumas and Atlante. Maher borned in Mexico, but moved with his family to Chile when his father finished his career in the mexican league. Then he started to play in the Palestino youth system, Juan Carlos Vera unlike Nery's father, knew that his kid could develop a better career in Mexico, he contacted people from Pumas, sended some videos and the people of Pumas hired the kid, his conditions are the ones of a 10 and once he's done with the adaptation period, people in the club hope he can become a top player first for the youth teams and eventually with first division Pumas.

    7) Salvador Farfan, 17 year old striker, nephew of former player of America, Gonzalo Farfan, this kid is working with the amateur teams hoping to be included in the pro rosters. He's very famous among the amateur players, not bacause of his uncle, but because he's a great prospect of a striker.

    8) Enrique de la Vega, another 17 year old, but he's a creative mid, has a lot of cotrol over the ball and great individual technique, the concern with him is his size, he looks very small for his age. Never the less, his class makes him a great prospect for Pumas.

9)Khery Chiapas, 16 year old brother of Jehu, just like his older bro is a great defensive prospect, right now is working under Chucho Ramirez order for the U17.

10)Saúl Sandoval, if there's a prospect of a striker that cast a shadow over Salvador Farfan among the amateurs is this 16 year old, Chucho Ramirez saw him and liked what he saw, that's why he's now with the U17.

11)Kevin Quiñones, 14 year old player. A skilled defender for his age an a regular face in Chucho Ramírez U15.

I heard that Coatzacoalcos is asking FMF for a change in its franchise but I'm not sure if is only the name or if it would include the location too.
