    It's in the 25 I think and doesn't count Under 21's.

    Moses is counted as homegrown.

Christensen might count as well. He's been at Chelsea for ages.

    Rules are here.

So he'll stick around the squad to fill a quota? (I'm too lazy to read the above link)

He'll probably only be kept until they sign someone else to fill the role then he'll get loaned/demoted. Same thing happened to Miazga last summer. If they don't sign anyone he'll be in the unenviable position of being "depth we don't want to use" until January.

Probably not. Or at least, if that were true it wouldn't explain him making the matchday squad.

But they'll have to use that depth, as they play 4 competitions. Even if its just cup matches against lower level sides, thats not bad. I'd prefer a loan, but it would be much better than the U-23's. And maybe he does very well, and there becomes a lot of public support to play him, and he eventually faces his way into the team.

I'm sure Chelsea could give a f*** but really tough break for him. Now he's in purgatory for (at least) another several months.

Same thing they did to Miazga last year. Kept him around until the end, in case they didn't get the player they wanted. They got the player they wanted, so he left at the very end, but it was close, they left it late. Unlucky for Scott that they left this even later.

Chelsea is completely anti-youth. Don't want to hear about any of our younger players playing for them until they change their act.

For what it's worth I don't really blame them at all. They shouldn't really give 2 shits about Kyle Scott nor do they need to develop players consistently via their youth pipeline. Players need to hire agents who have their best interest in mind and sign with clubs who clearly care about their development.

Yes they should. He's their employee, and someone they have raised up through their academy. Ethics require them to give multiple shits about such people.

I agree that players need agents to protect them, but let's not excuse clubs for treating young players like so much inventory in a warehouse.

  14. My conversation with a Belgian fan in another thread:

    feyenoordsoccerfan said:
By the way, @Belgian guy. Curious how many of your current nat team were in foreign (EPL) academies at 16? Were there any at all and if so, who?

"None. In fact, those who left early are all milk-carton worthy now. The only one who briefly got into the first team was Januzaj at Manchester United.

Koen Casteels Wolfsburg (Dui) -> Genk and then Wolfsburg
Thibaut Courtois Chelsea (Eng) -> Genk and then Chelsea after an Atletico loan deal
Simon Mignolet Liverpool (Eng) -> STVV, Sunderland and then LFC
Matz Sels Anderlecht -> Lierse, Gent, Newcastle United and then Anderlecht
Toby Alderweireld Tottenham (Eng) -> GBA, Ajax and then Spurs
Laurent Ciman Montréal (Can) -> Charleroi, Club Brugge, Standard de Liège before moving to MLS
Leander Dendoncker Anderlecht -> Anderlecht (came through the youth ranks)
Vincent Kompany Manchester City (Eng) -> Anderlecht, Hamburg, Man City
Jordan Lukaku Lazio Roma (Ita) -> Anderlecht, KVO, Lazio
Thomas Meunier PSG (Fra) -> Virton (then in the third division), Club Brugge, PSG
Thomas Vermaelen Barcelona (Spa) -> GBA, Ajax, Arsenal, Barcelona
Jan Vertonghen Tottenham (Eng) -> GBA, Ajax, Spurs
Nacer Chadli West Bromwich (Eng) -> Standard de Liège, AGOVV, Twente, Spurs, WBA
Kevin De Bruyne Manchester City (Eng) -> Genk, Chelsea, Werder Bremen, Wolfsburg, Man City
Steven Defour Burnley (Eng) -> Genk, Standard de Liège, Porto, Burnley
Mousa Dembélé Tottenham (Eng) -> GBA, Willem II, AZ, Fulham, Spurs
Marouane Fellaini Manchester United (Eng) -> Standard de Liège, Everton, Manure
Youri Tielemans Monaco (Fra) -> Anderlecht, Monaco
Axel Witsel Tianjin Quanjian (Chn) -> Standard de Liège, Benfica, Zenit St.-Petersburg, Tianjin Quanjian
Michy Batshuayi Chelsea (Eng) -> Standard de Liège, Marseille, Chelsea
Christian Benteke Crystal Palace (Eng) -> Standard de Liège, KVM, Genk, Aston Villa, LFC, Crystal Palace
Yannick Carrasco Atletico Madrid (Spa) -> Genk, AS Monaco, Atletico Madrid
Eden Hazard Chelsea (Eng) -> Lille, Chelsea
Thorgan Hazard Mönchengladbach (Dui) -> Lens, Chelsea, Zulte-Waregem, Borussia Monchengladbach
Romelu Lukaku Manchester United (Eng) -> Anderlecht, Chelsea, WBA, Everton, Manure
Dries Mertens Napoli (Ita) -> Anderlecht, AGOVV, FC Utrecht, PSV, Napoli
Kevin Mirallas Everton (Eng) -> Standard de Liège, Lille, Saint-Étienne, Olympiakus Piraeus, Everton
Divock Origi Liverpool (Eng -> Genk, Lille, LFC

So basically all of our players had their formative years either in Belgium, in Holland or in France. With GBA, Standard de Liège and Anderlecht providing most of our current squad.

Just a reminder to those flocking to jump with joy if a Yank kid signs for an EPL academy. With all those of our kids that went that way our national team fell in decay and the Belgians with their system adaption to our ways plus not being raided by the talents demolishers, rose with their national team.
    Coincidence? No, cause and result.

If y'all have Instagram, I suggest you check out Scott's page. He posts videos of training pretty regularly, and he's always with the first team. He looks to be in great form, like I remember from last year with the Devs, but more polished and stronger physically. The kid has talent, excited to see how it grows and where he takes it.

I don't know why. Just a hunch. But I feel like this kid will not make it.

Have you seen him play? Go ahead, @ me.

Boredom and No. I predict a spring 2019 pick up by the New England Revolution as back up to a Dmid with no touch who left Rutgers a year early for the MLS draft.
