Konrad picked up a brace in Barca Juvenil B's opener. His goal celebration resembles Bobby Wood's.

What a free kick by Konrad. He also contributed to the second Barca goal.

Does anyone know why he hasn't been called in for seemingly any of the U17 teams this cycle?

No, its puzzling. Its one thing to leave him off the final roster (although I think that would be ridiculous), but zero call ups when like 20-30 01's have gotten call ups makes no sense, especially when you consider how well he played for the U-16's.

Maybe everyone thinks it's better for him to stay in Barcelona. Do we know if he has passports for any other countries?

I believe he has Brazil, probably Spain. He was playing for our U-16's a few months ago, was easily the best player in the squad. I'd be worried that there's a chance Spain could try to get him to play for them, but so far, he seems to be committed to the USA and has been in our program, it's just a little odd that he has yet to get the call for the U-17's. Could very well be about Barcelona, although some of their players are playing at the U-17 WC.

I have no opinion about de la Fuente, but have there really been 20-30 01s called up to the U17s?

I've been keeping track of camps this cycle since December 2015 and the only 01s that I know of are Booth, Defreitas-Hansen, Llanez, Reynolds, and Vassilev. Plus Bello '02.

I don't mind in the least. For me U17's, even U20's are a waste of time if you have a good club situation. I prefer using those teams for kids who don't have a good club situation and are auditioning for one, like El Sargent.

I could go back and look, but yeah, I'd be surprised if it wasn't 20, might be more. There have been a lot. I'm not talking about "regulars", I'm talking about guys who've been called in at some point, maybe just a camp, maybe a game, maybe a tournament. As far as we know, de la Fuente has not been called in at all.

I think he's the player with he most potential in the youth national teams. It makes no sense for him not to go to the World Cup. He plays regularly with Barca and when he plays with the national team he stands out.

Just one of two '01s, along with fellow Barca (albeit Barca AZ) academy member Julian Araujo, to get called to the US U18s. Credit to @Starman* for the spot.

What's interesting about this is that since is essentially a camp for 99s, it's effectively the first U20 camp of the new cycle (which hasn't technically begun yet). Both of them would be playing "up" a cycle with the next U20s a la Sargent (and others before him). I wouldn't be completely shocked if there was some kind of club negotiations going on here, but that's just a guess.

Going out on a limb, I think Konrad will be the biggest American La Liga success story to date within a few years.

Jozy at Villarreal. Gooch at Malaga. Those are all I can think of if we don't count Rossi
