https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...p-misses-liverpool-training-admitted-hospital Jürgen Klopp missed training on Wednesday after the Liverpool manager was admitted to hospital having felt unwell. Klopp has undergone checks by medical staff and will be released this evening so will not require an overnight stay. The full squad returned to Melwood from international duty to train late on Wednesday afternoon but it was without Klopp, who by then was already at hospital. “He is being assessed by doctors and will be absent from training on Wednesday as a result,” said a statement from Liverpool. “There are currently no plans for Jürgen to remain in hospital beyond his appointment and he will therefore return home this evening; however, he may require further check-ups in the coming days. “The club urges that the privacy of Jürgen, his family and other patients is respected while attending hospital visits.” Liverpool face Southampton on Saturday but there is no indication yet when Klopp, who is scheduled to face the media on Friday for his pre-match press conference, will return to training or whether he will be in charge at the weekend. The 50-year-old German, who last week made a trip to South Africa for a charity event, has missed a game before, at home to Sunderland in February 2016, when he was had appendicitis. On that occasion his assistants Peter Krawietz and Zeljko Buvac oversaw the team’s 2-2 draw and they, plus the coach Pepijn Lijnders, took training in the manager’s absence.
scouse and black pudding for breakfast. not sure about other meals -- lots of spotted dick for desert I would imagine ..... a bit of bubble and squeak perhaps?
Don't get me wrong, I actually like a good bubble and squeak. But if you're not used to lard, it can be a, well, messy encounter.
you eat it, .... things bubble .... then you squeak. actually it's not bad. years since I've had it mind you. BTW I think Klopp's diet includes a fair amount of toad in the hole as well. yummmmm - toad in the hole!!
Hard to do, I've tried it. Lard has a very high burn temperature, so you can get a real crispy fry going that can't be accomplished with other oils.
What? No fired eggs, bacon or flapjacks? No way you eat that healthy..I'm part German, you know? At least the coffee looks good and strong. (all in jest)
No news today about Klopp's illness ... no news is good news I hope ..... edit: oops, I missed this - he's back but no diagnosis as yet: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor.../liverpool-manager-jurgen-klopp-back-13911730
Given the long flights he took getting to and back from SA, wouldn't be half surprised if this was a case of deep-vein thrombosis. Would make sense given the timing of it, and that they'll want to have him come back in for additional checkups. But, who knows?! Could just have likely been a case of priapism (you know too many cialis pills in a 48hr period... grin). Good news is that it sounds like he's been checked over and the doctors didn't think it was too serious.
I can't see DVT being the issue .... on the plane he'd have been up front, not in cattle class, and in his job travelling with players and physios he knows better than most what to do to avoid problems e.g. stretch his legs during the flight. seems like it's not serious. let's hope so.
I dont know when exactly but recently Ive found out that in Britain there are regional differences in what word to use for a bread roll and it suprised me since I thought this was a German language area exclusive thing
a teacake isn't a bread roll - in the sense that you only eat it toasted (hence the name!). kinda like a toasted bagel. a muffin isn't a bread roll either! it's a muffin! my faves are baps and barms. mmmmm ....... weird that both english and german ues so many words for what is basically the same thing.
the key word is 'basically'. i wonder whether the food items which an Irishman and a Welshman would call a "bap" are essentially the same. to me, a muffin and a roll are entirely different. a teacake is a cake, whereas a roll is a bread. no yeast in muffins or teacakes. and what the heck is an oggie?
growing up in Liverpool, to me a cob is a crusty breadroll and a bap is a soft breadroll. OK that's the end of my expertise.
