ON the KK front, he seems to have the staring nod since he has played most of the pre-season games, most notably the last one versus Lazio. Other interesting Spurs news, as we have been desperately looking for a striker, after having Rivaldo, Morientes, and Robbie Keane all turn us down. Now comes Ricketts (or rather Bolton). Keane may still be on the books, but doesn't want to leave Leeds.
It seems that Keane may be willing to leave for 9 million pounds, but it really isn't anything we haven't heard before. Keane would be foolish to stay at Leeds behind Viduka, Kewell, Smith, and Fowler....Lord know Reyna could use the help http://www.soccernet.com/england/news/2002/0816/20020816thfckeanelufc.html
As stated in that article, Spurs seem the more likely with a swap involving Anderton (who ironically may have finally moved beyond his "sicknote" nickname). Both teams, Spurs and Sunderland, are hurting for a quality striker (though at this point, I don't think Spurs could even sign the kid from rec league I ref)... Anyway, on to pre match news... As Aris reported in the match news, JMM is out with a knee injury. The emergence of the young kid, Rooney, does not bode well for him in the future. Rooney is just 17 years old. I was wondering about a coaching position for JMM... Everton seem not to have much of any injury problems that I could find, except that Duncan Ferguson seems to have a lingering injury that may keep out for a month (their official site doesn't even list anybody as injured). Anybody have any info, please provide. For Spurs, Sully seems to be on the outs. Not sure why, but good for Keller who seems to have a solid grasp on the starting job (I'm being more optimisic that Aris). Spurs, though, have a rash of injuries, but some imporvement (shown here): mainly Poyet (up to 8mo with a ligament damage), Ziege is out for 3 weeks Anderton is doubtful for the weekend, and Freund is out as well. Good news is that King and Gardner are back as well as summer signing Acimovic who was expected out for a few months. In the overall, Everton are looking for mid-table as they don't have much to go on in the way of finances. Spurs are shooting for a spot in Europe, and if we find that striker, should be there with only slight dificulty. As a foot note, Soccernet has linked Spurs with "Ajax's Greek striker Nicos Machlas as well as £4.5million-rated striker Peter Madsen" as well as Kevin Phillips (sure to thrill the Reyna/Sunderland supporters) in one of the articles I was reading. Isn't Ronaldo on his way out of Inter...?
Injury report Everton will be missing Yobo, Ferguson and Pisstone Spurs are without Ziege, ANDERTON (shall we call it the revenge of Sicknote???), Freund, Poyet and Ledley King
Saturday Morning notes Preview from Sky sports The preview on BBC. Mostly the same, but some interesting notes at the bottom. Here's The Times with projected starting lineups From Spurs' site: Teddy showing optimism. From Everton: Rodrigo is Everton's player with flair. And here's Moyes (doesn't he look like Tony Blair) being boyantly subdud. Add this from the Spurs site - match preview
Campbell with a good effort from Pembridge but Richards guides away. Weak shot into arms of KK, not sure from who. Campbell and Gardener get tangled, Campbell goes to ground, no penalty.
Iverson with a valley, cleared away leading to an Everotn break. GOAL!! for Everton but my audio is going in and out. Must have been a cracking finish, would have liked to have heard it. Everton 1, Tottenham 0
Everton with a goal kick. Pembridge must be running the show for Everton, announcers are raving about him. Everton are starting a 16 year old, Rooney. 40 minutes in Free kick for Spurs. Leads to another free kick as Redknapp is brought down. Nothing really comes of it. Weir gives up another free kick, within scoring range. Wright organizing a wall. Teddy curls it over teh bar.
Flick on by the 16 year old, to Campbell but Campbell is called for offsides. Stubbs gives Sherry a shove and allows a ball to drift back to Wright. Sherry not happy about it. But nothing comes of it. Carr looks to have tweaked a hammie. Pulls up immeidiately and begins to work on it. Not sure why my audio is working and yours is not, Nutter. I got a bad connection signal but then it booted right up. Carr off. Hoodle waits to make a sub, i think,.
Correction, Thatcher on for Carr. One minute of added time. Pembridge with a great run but nothing comes of it. When this announcer gets excited around goal, the audio goes out. Halftime, 1-0.
