The comments about back passing here and the Swansea boards show a lack of understanding about football. If one thinks about it, one needs to attack only when there is a reasonable chance of success -- not blindly go barreling forward everytime you get the ball. Reasonably good chances need to be created -- and Ki's style is to keep possession and pass, backwards or otherwise to create, not because he is afraid of going forward. There are some that come here to discuss football (and I've been here a long time) -- that I can bet has never played themselves (maybe just foosball, as in that game you kick forward probably more than 90% of the time.

Swansea are reportedly very close to signing Roque Mesa, and this could mean Ki Sung-yong could well be sold. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/swansea-city-advanced-talks-over-13244216
Mustache in, Cork out. Cork said on way out that there were three spots so sounds like Clement sticking to 4-3-3 shape.
i dont care if he gets playing time this season. I wish he would move to a bigger club because he is capable of being a starter for a CL club and improving even more, but that doesn't seem likely to happen at this point... so I just don't want him to get injured regardless of pt. Even if he doesn't receive many minutes, he'll turn up in the World Cup anyways.
i think now it's too late, no club in the champions league will be interested in signing Ki now, except maybe Copenaghen lol.
Dude isn't getting minutes for near bottom table team. Given his sketchy looking health and age, doubt big club would want him. At this point, just have to hope that he can get good minutes ahead of WC whether at Swansea or elsewhere. After the WC, though I'd hope for more, my expectation is that he will cash in and/or semi-retire with a move east.
Bye bye sigurdsson. We can confirm that Gylfi Sigurdsson will not travel with the squad for our pre-season tour of the USA. pic.twitter.com/8qgAQewUG3— Swansea City AFC (@SwansOfficial) July 13, 2017
Ki's only opportunity to move to a big club was when he had that 8-goal season couple of years ago where he was fantastic. He lost his opportunity to go to a bigger club now and to me, he's not a player that would able to hold his own at a big club because of his inconsistencies. I still wish Ki would move to either La Liga or Serie A where his style of play would be more appreciated but I doubt Ki would ever move to either leagues.
yeah, Leon has 9 lives. it's been an impressive run for Swansea in the PL, but now if Gylfi leaves, they'll be sure to be in relegation fight again. don't know how much bringing in Joe Allen is going to help.
He's being re-phased back out to part coach part player role. He get so the honorary start today but they're not gonna let expensive Mesa rot on bench
Unclear which thread to post in but since I'm not keen on reading more re-hashing of LDG situation, putting it here. Ki's not moving this window as he's already in Korea and sounds like starting to train ahead of possibly suiting up for WCQ. http://english.yonhapnews.co.kr/news/2017/08/25/0200000000AEN20170825011900315.html
3 midfield spots for 6 players- carroll, roque mesa, clucas, fer, ki, britton, pretty sure ki hasn't even met roque mesa yet
Swans not expecting Ki to feature for South Korea with midfielder yet to return to full training for Welsh clubhttps://t.co/SWQrSdLMSw— Swansea City Online (@SwanseaCityLive) August 29, 2017
