Because that's what he chose. A bit ironic considering he's the one that actually speaks English, but hey, it's his name, his choice.

Not sure about the Korean market but could you give me an idea of how big the original replica shirt market is in China?

I was under the impression, maybe incorrectly, that most football shirts sold in China are fake rip offs.

You might get your answer in the China boards.

really? yea its weird cause he is suppose to be fluent in english, maybe cause he knows english speakers will pronounce yong as ye-ong instead of yu-ong

Well I think "Sung-Young" rolls off the tongue easier for English speakers than "Sung-Yong," so that might be why Ki spells it that way.

Anyway, though, I hope Ki gets called up for all the KNT friendlies he can because if he can't get enough playing time at Celtic, maybe some more action with the KNT will keep him from getting rusty.

I've mentioned in earlier post that "Yueng" is not a Hong Kong way of romanizing.
his name would be romanized as "Young" or "Yong" if he gets an Hong Kong ID card

    Fair enough.

I was responding to a quote that was on this thread regarding Asian players.

I just hope you don't take any of this as a slight to Celtic or the SPL. We have a tendency to be over-reactionary at times. :D I guess because Ki is such an important piece of our current (and especially future) NT and it's a World Cup year.

    Sung-Yong = Chung-Yong.

Doesn't get much simpler than that. I don't know where Ki went wrong.

Any news on whether he is starting/bench this week?
