English Bundesliga.com is basically a clickbait site. Not sure how much of it is just run by Fox (their partnership) or what.

Did you think he got a raw deal at NYC FC at the time? He had injury problems (as he did before getting there) but never really seemed to make a strong claim for more than spot duty when he did get on the field, despite showing flashes.

Injuries do not fit the narrative, sorry.

I think NYCFC has shown that - as an entity of City Football Group - owned and controlled by a global conglomerate - that it has limited interest in domestic players. I think that club is being operated as an arm of CFG and as such has a directive to play the minimum # of domestic players....not sure exactly why but I would assume that it is because the global conglomerate is biased against american players vis a vis global players....

the track record of all domestic players at the that club is horrific....too consistently poor across all domestic players there to be accidental.

This could be low-key the most interesting move of the whole YA season, very curious to see how this plays out.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that if one of us is saying "He generally didn't look exceptional in many of his appearances for NYC FC, and was frequently hurt to boot" and the other is blaming the global conglomerate, we probably aren't going to be able to resolve this fruitfully. Hey, maybe we're both right! In any case, here's hoping he gets an opportunity to shine this year, and takes it.

Really? I don't think there is any reason to believe he will make an impact in the B1. I don't think he will even see the pitch much at all. But what do I know?

will see, Im not like, willing to bet the farm on it or anything, but if Bobby Wood can go on a streak in the BL , maybe Shelton can too.

Not a bad move if it goes down. I think the 2BL is more his level and where he could ultimately excel. No shame in that. The season starts this weekend, IIRC, so I would assume Furth would want to move quickly on securing the loan.

Paderborn won't let Khiry Shelton in place, hence Furth on loan.

Whether with Papadorn or Furth sounds like Shelton has impressed enough this preseason that if he gets consistent minutes he could make himself a call up candidate

I don't think so. Shelton was a middling-at-best MLS forward; a sprinkling of magic Euro dust doesn't suddenly make him a national team option.

Let me rephrase, if he plays well he could get a call up due to being in a position that needs depth

he has certain qualities that are good enough to be a good international forward/winger.

He needs to improve to be a USMNT. right now he is not really there...but if he can make a leap ...then he will be right in the mix.

thing is....the physical qualities cannot be learned...and he has them.

hopefully being in a different environment with (better?) coaching can help him get to the next level as a player....

I still don't think so. There are like, a dozen guys ahead of him even if he is in good form.

Wooten couldn't get into the fold despite scoring 17 in 31 on a bad team in the 2.Bundesliga last season, and he didn't have the domestic evidence of not being up to par holding him back either. Unless Shelton is putting up better numbers (and for a guy with 10 goals in 90 games in his career, I doubt that), I don't see him being a serious part of the national team conversation.

Hope he does well on loan though.

Anyway, Buzz Killington over here, signing off. :p
