Kicker rated him the #1 keeper of the 3rdLiga last season. He starts this year injured. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...7/artikel_kniefall_kiel-bangt-um-kronholm.htm
He also finished the year injured. He's back now and started Holstein Kiel's opener, his first appearance since May 2015.
Kronholm will have to fend off a challenge from a keeper who has Bundesliga experience to hold onto his starting job as Kiel have brought in Lukas Kruse from Paderborn

By the way, Holstein Kiel had a really nice jersey designed with a map of the Kiel fjord on it, but the 2. Bundesliga rejected it since it ruled the picture was a "photo" and not a "design element." Probably worried about teams putting random photos on jerseys. https://www.whatahowler.com/2-bundesliga-reject-newly-promoted-clubs-kit-design/
Kronholm earned a shutout today in a 3-0 road win over Aue, which puts Kiel temporarily on top of the 2.Bundesliga after six games. Marvin Ducksch, who YA aficionados may recall once competing for playing time with Terrence Boyd at BVB II, has been productive with five goals so far.
Team of the Week: 912235579315822593 is not a valid tweet id @bungadiri ... Since he's in 2.BL now, let's promote him to YA.
Holstein Kiel are currently in second place. Kronholm's climb through the ranks should be getting more love. In the 2011-12 season, he was playing for VfR Mannheim in the Oberliga (fifth tier). He moved up to Elversberg in the Regionalliga (fourth tier) in 2012-13 got got promoted with them to the 3.Liga for 2013-14. He made the switch to Holstein Kiel at the same level in 2014-15, missed all of 2015-16 with injury, then got promoted in 2016-17. Now his small club is knocking on the door of the Bundesliga. Good for him.
I've been told that's him in the photo below. #badXIpics: Top-Spiel der 2. Liga! Und diese #Start11desTages schickt Trainer #Anfang in den Ring. #KSVFCI #KielAhoi pic.twitter.com/BxAEhxymHa— Holstein Kiel (@Holstein_Kiel) November 25, 2017
Had the clean sheet for Kiel in a goalless draw at Braunschweig in 2Liga - his 5th shut out in 15 matches - Kiel hold the top spot in 2Liga with only 2 losses so far this season
His agent contacted U.S. Soccer and informed them Kronholm now has an American passport: https://www.liga-zwei.de/holstein-kiel-kronholm-bald-nationalspieler/ Holstein Kiel currently sit in 2nd place in the 2. Bundesliga, with Kronholm surrendering 23 goals in 18 matches. However, he is already age 32.
with his surname, is he of German ancestry and he just grew up in Germany? Or was his mom American and married a German?
He's pretty obscure, even by BS YA standards. I'm sure there were some quizzical looks when they called Soccer House.
