He has played LB against some elite players and done well. I think he would project to LB better than CM if he does in fact begin a career in a top 8 league in Europe.

You must've missed the U-20 WC and U-23 qualifying.

I thought he was great in the 2015 U20WC. We didn't lose in the QF that year because of him, that's for sure. He did give up a red but it was an iffy call. I do not love him as a CM for the senior team right now.

Does Beasley need to put in a call on behalf of Acosta for PSV?

I agree with you that he doesn't look great for the senior team right now, but I think most of his problems are mental. He forces too many passes and forgets where to be sometimes, but that's the exact stuff that would be ironed out if he went to Europe.

Sure. But he'd be facing off against much better players, learning from better players, and it's no secret that MLS isn't the most tactical league, especially in midfield. A move to Germany or the Netherlands would really help out his decision making and positioning.

Look at what Vitesse has done for Miazga's distribution. They held him out of normal practice just to teach him how to make passes into midfield.

  12. You can scrap PSV from the list. After their stupid elimination by nobodies in the EL qualies ( ending a succesful 43/44 year unbroken run into the group stages of European competitions, only behind Barcelona and Porto) they have a 6 million budget problem to solve. So no new players, unless for free, are coming in.

Damn that blows. What's the reason for recent difficulties for them in recent years? Not as strong as they were 10 years ago.

  16. Simply cruising on automatic pilot. Not planning for the next phase. In the CL campaign 2015-2016 they were a penalty kick away from the semi final, last year's CL campaign they were eliminated in the group stage because of failure to convert penalties in the matches that would have got them into the ko phase. PSV wasted their time when succesfull to make the changes necesary in the team.
And valuable players this summer left without the management securing adequate replacement.

So from what I see Acosta hasn't started any games for FCD since the GC and was an unused sub today, while FCD is crashing and burning, outscored 7-1 over the last two. Wonder if something is going on behind the scenes.

I thought the same thing. It wouldn't surprise me if he's gone this week.

Yes, PSV. Does Acosta share an agent with Emerson Hyndman?

While Kellyn will be making a move inside of a year and Dallas is willing to sell, the rest last night was just that. He's had a heck of a month and was exhausted coming back from the All-star game on the heels of the Gold Cup.

  23. Ah, okay.
Budget hole plugged as they sold a player for 12 or 14 million €€ or pounds. Not sure what the currency was. He wasnot that good either, so good business.

do these euro clubs help each other out when there are budget issues?

i have no doubt of your assessment that a not very good player can go for 12-14 million...but then i think only 1 or 2 usmnt players have ever come close to that and it makes me wonder....???

  25. No, they donot, but English clubs have too much money and it is only my assesment he's not top quality. He wasnot top quality last season anyway.
