It would be nice to get our defense back on track. San Jose has looked good this season, especially in the attack.
No idea, really. I think Vako is quite a handy player, and Eriksson and Hoesen look good. Wondo is always scary. Maybe I was a bit too swayed by Warshaw but they looked like more than just Wondo, to me, and I hate playing against him, and really hate the idea that he's not really the focus and can vanish on you.
We're noticeably better than we were last year but we're still finding our footing, so to speak, so now would be a very good time to play us.
San Jose does have a really dynamic attack right now. From what I've seen, Wondo might be their weakest link in the front four. Behind them, the team is a little whiffy in midfield and not impressive on defense. Winnable game for either team.
Even when you have the former defender of the year, the current defender of the year and the GK of the year on your side giving up 5 goals in 2 games, that is a fair description of SKC also.
You're not wrong. Difference is I think kc is likely to right the ship and have a higher quality ceiling in that department.
I was reading though the preview of the game on the MLS site and came across the injury report for SKC... I'm sure glad they let us know that Jo Inge Berget is questionable,,, but its three weeks too late since he plays for NYCFC. Sporting KC The bad news: SKC have conceded five goals in their first two games. A year ago, it took Peter Vermes’ side 10 games to reach that amount. The good news: They scored four goals for the first time since beating Vancouver Whitecaps FC by the same scoreline Aug. 15, 2015. Felipe Gutierrez bagged a brace, including the winner four minutes from full time, to earn a spot on the MLS Team of the Week presented by Audi and Johnny Russell also opened his account for SKC in the rare offensive explosion. Suspended: None Suspended after next caution: None Injury Report: QUESTIONABLE: F - Jo Inge Berget (quad)
My halftime impressions: - Johnny Russell is so good. He is so aggressive about driving to the box, and is just destroying Salinas on our right side. - Quite a discouraging first half from Shelton. I don't remember anything positive that he did. Doesn't seem to have any ideas once he does get the ball and certainly isn't using his size to any advantage this game. Time to move Salloi centrally and bring on either Croizet or Gerso to try and get some more energy up top. - I don't know how Lima ended up so wide open behind Seth on their goal. Looked like it must have been a breakdown in awareness or communication between Seth and Besler, which is odd. - Ilie and Gutierrez have both played a very good half. Roger, though, didn't seem to be involved much. I honestly wonder how much longer he has with this team as we continue to try and go younger. It still feels like we've got another goal in us. Assuming that Shelton isn't subbed off at halftime, I really hope PV doesn't give him past 60' to show some life because right now he isn't adding anything, unfortunately.
Ha ha ha Russell loses the ball and responds with a good quality American football tackle. Or maybe a rugby tackle.
Gah. Shelton can hold the ball, true. But he is so SLOW this game. Doing something worthwhile AFTER holding it is not going well. Come on, Peter, 2-1 is not a guaranteed win at this point. Time to make a sub and get another one.
