Home game to an objectively inferior team. These are the games you gotta win if you're going to have a season.
has father time finally caught up with him? getting subbed off early in that game, which followed the unbelievable howler he had the week before (or was it two weeks before?). this should be 3 points, but we sometimes have a tendency to play down to our opponents, so who knows? i'd like to see another performance like we put in against colorado.
Rimando hasn't looked like the force he used to be this season. His defense hasn't been much of a help in that. Up top they look fairly limited (okay, so this is a wash). Their midfield has it's moments. This is the sort of game we should control from whistle to whistles. And this is the sort of defense we should score on. So a devastating loss then seems almost a sure thing...
Cassar didn't leave the team in a good place and Petke has tried to put lipstick on that pig. SKC needs to be cautious because there is enough left of the team that can jump up and bite if not taken seriously. This is a game SKC should dominate and win. However, they hate SKC enough to try anything to get a result. I expect a lot of chippy stuff throughout the game.
Beckerman is looking like a player who is close to being done. I've watched him a lot this season, and he isn't done. But he isn't the consistent beast he has been, which makes sense at 35. He never used to vanish, he was annoying for 90 minutes. This year there have been more than a couple times when he's stepped up and made a play when I'd forgotten he was on the field. As others have noted, RSL still can cause us problems if we're not on. And Beckerman is the can't be ignored as a potential clog on the middle of the field. But, overall, the nod goes to Espinoza right now, IMO.
Am I crazy to think we may not see soccer today in KC? I get one hall pass, maybe two chances a year to pick a game to go to. I picked this because I wanted to tell KB how much i disapprove of his version of soccer. Mother Nature not cooperating.
I heard it wasn't even supposed to be a thunderstorm, just steady rain. What doom and gloom are you working off?
it says thunderstorms likely after 4 or so and through the evening, but i still think water-logged pitch may be the more likely candidate for cancellation, given how much rain we've been getting and are projecting to keep getting. that shouldn't be a problem with such a modern stadium, but who knows? i put the odds of cancellation quite low.
Haha, okay. Because what I'm seeing out my window is not enough to cancel a high school game, let alone a professional one.
Yeah I think cancellation chances are low. While we've certainly gotten more rain this morning (and more to come) the field has shown in the past that it drains fairly well. That said, we haven't exactly played well in games with extremely wet fields (or delays, think Richmond, Houston in 2014, and Vancouver in the CCL last year)
I think poor conditions play into RSLs favor. They're... not good right now. On the road, they'd want to bog us down anyways. This rain is just added incentive.
I do recall us beating the snot out of the Revs at BV Complex in the USOC when tornados were in the area and the Revs just wanted on the first airplane out of the Midwest.
We took the poor weather as an opportunity to get shield club tickets for $20 a piece, which seems to be the minimum price allowed. Going to be a lot of empty seats methinks, there's piles of resale tickets available.
I might be one of those empty seats. I've been outside for other things today and now I'm warm and dry.
How in the world did Schuller get away without a yellow card for the foul on Gerso? I've seen guys get sent off for less.
