There would be like 6 remaining clubs in all of Korea then. Anyway, to the person who asked the question about improving attendance, there's another thread where we talked about it at length. But I think it comes down to making Koreans care. Koreans don't really have the affinity for their hometowns that Europeans do, so 'local flavor' probably isn't enough.
K3 League side Cheongju CITY FC's plan to join K League fell through after the refusal of the Cheongju government .— Korea Football News (@KORFootballNews) October 19, 2016
fixed have you ever dissed Jeonju or Busan in front of a Jeonju/Busan local? they have so much pride for their respective city
True. I should modify to say that the affinity is not universal, like it seemingly is in Europe. I've met plenty of Jeolla people who aren't really trying to show that off.
Honestly, as soon as this k league challenge season began, i thought Daejon Citizens was to be either promoted or be in the play-off...but no. Can we call it "failure of the year"?
So Daegu FC promoted to the Classic division as the winner Police FC is not allowed due to the foundation of so-called Ansan Citizen FC. Meanwhile, Bucheon gets bye to the semifinal of the promotion-relegation playoff; Busan will visit Gangwon for the first round of the playoff matchup. In the first round and semifinal, if the match ends up with a draw, the higher seeded team will advance to the next round. Whereas the final will be two-legged, home-and-home series.
Kim Dong Chan MVP of the season, Daejeon had two players in the team of the year, but they finished outside top 5. Daegu's new coach named manager of the year. I think the manager of the year it's clearly the Ansan's coach. Greats season and won the league despite the decision about promotion came with some rounds before the season ended.

My team of the year: 4-2-2-2 GK -> JO HYEONG-WOO (Daegu) - Having won promotion to the Classic with Daegu I think Jo played a pretty important role. Daegu have conceded 36 goals, but the defense wasn't great all the time, but Jo's saves prevented Daegu to conceded more goals. I think I have seen all the games of Daegu this season (in highlights) and Jo was really great in some games. Missed just one game all the season due to a minor injury (I think) RB -> LEE HAK-MIN (Bucheon) - 1995 Bucheon was the surprise of the season and they have a chance to play Classic football next season. It's difficult to not select one of their players in the team of the year. Their Brazilian attacking players did the difference, but the right-back Lee had a very good season. Maybe he wasn't so great in defense at times, but for a full-back it's important to go be good in attack and Lee was very good going forward. His crossing ability is pretty good and also scored two goals. CB -> NILSON (Busan) - The Brazilian didn't started the season in the Challenge, but once he arrived in the summer was very good. I think is the main reason for Busan's revival. If I remember well he played his first game as a defensive midfielder, but after that was moved in the heart of a 3 man defence and did a very good job there. Nilton reads the game so well and this was essential for Busan. CB -> PARK TAE-HONG (Daegu) - The defense of Daegu was much improved comparing with the last season and another reason for this is their skipper Park. Arrived from Yokohama FC (J2) in the start of the year Park was the leader of the defense and his "dark arts" were much needed in some moments. LB -> JUNG SEUNG-YONG (Gangwon) - Here I chose another offensive full-back as his offensive contribution for Gangwon was very important this season. Like Lee Hak, Jung is also very good going forward. He scored 3 goals (I remember a very nice goal from outside the box) and has two assists as well. Maybe I should watch more for full-backs who defends well, but as a fan it's pretty difficult. I mean Roberto Carlos wasn't the best when defending, but he was a great a left-back. The same applies for Marcelo. CDM -> SHIN HYUNG-MIN (Ansan) - This man haven't finished the season with Ansan as he returned to his parent club after finishing his military duty, but until then was a very important man for the Police. I don't think I should say more about him because after his return to Jeonbuk he played 8 games there and scored a goal. Quality player! CM -> HWANG IN-BEOM (Daejeon) - Maybe the expections were high from this great talent, but I can't see another better central midfielder in the league. We all know the quality of this player. Hwang has a great first touch, his passing ability is very good and also his shot from distance is good. Daejeon's season wasn't great, but even so Hwang managed to score 5 goals and had 5 assists. RW -> Cesinha (Daegu) - Paulo Sergio was the top scorer of Daegu, but I think Cesinha was the best player of them this season. Very talented attacking midfielder, but not only this. His work rate was really great Cesinha was the clever mind in the Daegu team. 11 goals and 8 assists to his name this season. Pretty good stats I think. LW -> HAN JI-HO (Ansan) - Its natural position is not in the left wing, but I think this guy can play anywhere in attack because he's a very skilled player with a lot of quality. So I can't ovelook him from this team. Han was the top scorer of league leaders Ansan with 10 goals. FW -> CRISTIAN DANALACHE (Gyeongnam) - The Romanian is not the most talented player, but he's a natural goal scorer. He's always there where the ball it is. Gyeongnam were the best attacking team this season with 61 goals and 19 goals were scored by Cristian. FW -> KIM DONG-Chang (Daejeon) - I think Daejeon will win promotion next season if they will keep this guy. Kim was the top scorer this season with 20 goals to his name, but not only this, he has also 8 assists. The diminutive striker should play to another level in my opinion. Reserves: Glory (Seoul E-Land), Ivan (Gyeongnam), Jung Da-hwon (Ansan), Waguininho (Bucheon), Willian Popp (Busan), Lukian (Bucheon), Paulo Sergio (Daegu).
Fantastic list Radu. I have to admit that I did not follow K-League Challenge at all this year so it's a great shortlist to have at hand. From what you've seen from Gyeongnam this season, do you think any K-League Classic clubs will make a move for Cristian Danalache?
cesinha is truly a complete player. he does a bit everything. scores goals, gets assists, takes freekicks, creates plays, works hard on and off the ball, defends, etc. daegu is lucky to have retained him. i can see him going to a top team in korea or another club in asia as early as next summer
It seems he will sign with Daejeon to replace Kim Dong Chang. Were also some rumors about a move to China again.
