Juve are planning to build a 5-6k stadium adjacent to the Continassa development. It will host the U23 and Women’s team. The land is currently owned by the local council.
And when it's completed, I bet we'll be the first club to own our own stadium in Serie C. It's a fantastic idea, if only because it will allow Juve B to generate its own revenue.
To be fair, a lot of it is the redic town councils and other Italian gumminess that are blocking some teams from doing what we are doing.
But none of that is our fault. Our city council wisely understands that it is to their benefit to work with the Agnellis. They understand that the history of the city of Turin would have been very different from the late 19th century to today if not for the Agnellis. If other clubs do not bring in the same kinds of benefits to their city councils, that's their problem, not ours. It's annoying forever being blamed for things totally beyond our control or influence.
Abandoning delle Alpi, the reconstruction of the Olimpico worked in favor of getting it done. Otherwise, it would have been a deserted facility just sitting there.
It's an example of how the city and the family are willing to work together, if only for their mutual self-interest. Which is just fine; there's absolutely nothing wrong with that for either party. If anything, we're an example of what the rest of Italy should aspire to, not denigrate.
Juventus U23 won their second game in the Serie C, beating Pro Patria 2-0 with goals from Toure and Matheus. The U23 team also signed Lorenzo Del Prete (who is 33), he’s a Juve youth product.
Juventus U23 beat Arezzo 3-1 today to earn their third win of the Serie C season. Their record is 3 Wins, 1 Draw and 3 defeats. They currently sit in 6th place, 3 points out of first place. A few teams ahead of them have a game in hand.
yes, the b team can't play in the same league as the senior team. So if they were in B and were to get promotion, they stay in B for example
The U23's seem to be holding their own in Serie C/ Especially considering many of the teams could be fielding older, more experienced players. You had 37 -40 year old Alessandro Lucarelli winning the Serie D, C & B at Parma in consecutive years. I'm sure he wasn't the last experienced player playing in the lower divisions...
That's the whole point. It's not an easy ride, it's a pro league with pro players. It's a huge advantage for Juve to send their youth to this team. Eventually it will benefit all of Italy.
I still don't understand why we are the only team taking advantage of this. Are we the only one with sufficient youth players to do it?
You have to remember its Italy and not too many teams other than Juventus are capable of spending money to afford a team. Maybe Inter and Milan may have been able to put up a team in the in the past but I'm not so sure they can do that now. Same with Fiorentina, Parma, Bologna , Lazio, Roma and Napoli etc. With travel, housing and accommodations , I don't think anyone would spend the money. Its easier to loan out players but not as easy to field an entire club. Chievo could barely scrap enough money to get a team in the Serie A and Parma was in the Serie D just 2 years ago. I doubt either can afford another team in Serie C or D.
Team isn't doing so well, LLWDWLWDLLLL They've gathered 11 points from 12 matches, sitting in 15th place in Serie C. If this pace keeps up they'll be in the relegation zone sooner rather than later.
Proof that the idea is correct and that the primevera was a total waste of time for the Italian youth sector.
