He had more than an assist. Take a look at that play. It doesn't happen without what Asa did there. It amazes me how people can focus only on the negative and ignore the positive a player brings. Asa is far from the biggest "problem" this team has. After all he is a back up left back. Frankly he played better today than Licht has in quite some time and since he starts that is a much bigger problem. Cuadrado is another one people love to bash but ignore the positive stuff he does. He had a very good game today but people are still moaning about his "crossing".
Agree here. Asamoah as a backup fills a needed role on the team and does it well. As far as this game, Higuain will rightfully get the acclaim. That said, Juve's ball movement and build up are so so much better with Pjanic. Bentancur is a potential future star, but his play is too labored. Pjanic keeps the ball moving and is also incisive with his passing. He is one of the best registas in Europe. Juve are a different team with him on the pitch.
When he's flanked properly and doesn't have to deal with a good destroyer in the midfield. Otherwise he too easily neutralized and becomes a liability.
supposely the team wants Pjaca to play a few games for the primavera as part of his rehab, but he does not want to and wants to come right back to the team. Hopefully this does not turn into a issue.
Considering he tweeted this, I highly doubt that. #WhatHeSaid 👇😉 #ForzaJuve #finoallafine ⚪️ ⚫️ https://t.co/g32Bb2wja6— Marko Pjaca (@marko_pjaca20) October 21, 2017
The biggest thing with Asamoah is the speed of play reduction, he is not skilled on the ball, he is very chunky in fluidity, so you will see him slow down the build up a lot and often just play safe passes sideways or back. I believe on his assist, the defender made a giant over commitment to displacing the ball from him and that allowed Asa about 10 yards to dribble freely and let him make the assist. He won't get that in CL ever... so he is fine here and there. But he litteraly lives and dies with using his body as his best asset in winning balls and defending, and skilled players know how to use this against him, because he is not a skill player or a fast player. He is serviceable, but... we are going to end up with a "Evra 2.0 moment against Bayern" if we have to rely on him.
We are a lot more likely to get an "Evra 2.0" from Licht than from Asa who is a reserve LB. Licht has already had several "Evra 2.0" moments this season.
As a fullback, I take Lichtsteiner any day of the week over Asamoah. Asamoah is clearly out of place as a fullback. He never looks comfortable; makes questionable choices; and can't typically be counted on to even get a cross away without having it blocked by a defender. His performance has really dropped in the last few years.
I agree. Asamoah hasn't really been great or consistent since that long term injury in the 2014-15 season.
Asamoah was functional as a left wing in a 3-5-2. Supposedly he played as a central midfielder but that is not a position where one plays with only one foot. So he did good on the wing. He is not a fullback. He does OK, marks hard but just does not have the instincts of a defender. He can do the job against a mediocre side. Different if playing against a strong one.
I lost count of how many times Sandro has lost possession in this first half vs Sporting. The Brazilian hasn't been convincing either.
Just another in a long line of Brazilian busts that have played for Juventus. He should have been sold as we'll never get another offer of 70M for that turd.
I seem to remember getting 4 points between the 2 games we played against them, and winning the group.
Whats up with Juve changing the logo to the logo we had in the 90's on their social media? Anyone know? @Dante
Juve's celebrating the 120th birthday so they've been changing their social media profile images all day, they stared with the original logo and have worked their way up.
