He's with Fortuna Dusseldorf II in Regionalliga West, joining fellow Justin-American Kinjo, and apparently has become their starting GK. That's likely in part due to the injured Wiesner, but it looks like Vom Steeg beat out one other guy too. He's played the entirety of their last two matches, including a draw vs. Borussia Dortmund II (no Gyau or Flores in that squad). This is great news. Vom Steeg is arguably on the same or possibly better club path than Horvath (backup at Molde) and Steffen (third- or fourth-string at Freiburg) were in Europe two years ago. Rensing, Dusseldorf's starting keeper, will be 33 in May.
Fortuna's normal backup keeper Lars Unnerstall has pneumonia right now. I think Vom Steeg is still the #3.
