O When The Yanks and USA Prospects say that '01 Justin Butler, formerly of Augsburg U-15, is a German-American. He has moved to Bayern Munich U-16, joining Jalen Hawkins.

I can't find confirmation, but I've been reading on a German language Bayern forum that he had a long-term injury, and just recently returned. He's supposedly very good, and will likely be starting next season with the U-17's. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the next German-American to get a German youth call up. I believe Butler is a striker.

Butler has been playing CF in Bayern U17's 4-2-3-1. He came off the bench in the first three games and registered a goal and assist during that span. He made his first start this weekend.

He's competing with a similarly-aged German forward named Benedict Hollenbach.

He has three goals and three assists in eight games, the last five of which have been starts.

Call this guy up to our next '01 camp. Could even call him up to the next U-20 camp (we just called up de la Fuente and Araujo who are born in the same year to a U-20 camp).

All the info we have points towards this guy being really good. The Bayern fans say he's very good, he's performing well with Bayern this season, he was one of four 01's called up to their U-19 team for the Youth Champions League competition, and one of two who played (another guy started, but from what I've read that guy is basically the best player in the '01 age group for Germany).

Get him in the program for us before Germany does.

Any sense for how deep American ties are for Butler, Hawkins, and Tillman (cap tied to Germany?)? And which of the three look most promising as prospects?

Don't know about the ties for Butler and Hawkins. I believe both Tillman's have a father who they didn't know who was American, so maybe not such deep ties to the USA, but the younger Tillman has played for us before, although most recently he played with Germany.

Its hard to know who are the best of the four. Timothy Tillman is doing well with Bayern II, but hasn't yet broken in. Of the two 01's, its looking like Butler is more highly rated, but Hawkins just came back from a long-term injury (Butler also did), so I don't think we can be sure. Hawkins is getting regular playing time, starting some games, as well, so I think he might still be a decent player. Malik Tillman is an '02 starting for Bayern's '01 age group, he seems very highly rated, not sure how highly rated he is in comparison to the others, but he seems a good player, and I'd say all four seem to be relevant players, they aren't just making up the numbers.

Butler's affinity for the US is strong. Think Terrence Boyd type US passion.

I'm very intrigued to see the next U-20 camp. Seems we have a fair amount of '01's at massive European clubs, especially in comparison to past classes.

Malik Tillman, Jalen Hawkins and Justin Butler all played for Bayern U17 in a 3 - 0 win over Karlsruher U17 with Ian Hoffman and Jeremiah Kasteleiner (who I am not sure is eligible just yet)

Talk about the potential future of US soccer......5 USYNT U17 playing in one match
