Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction For those who read German, here is the first Spiegel article reporting the hiring. It is pretty much just the facts; the readers' responses are more interesting. I haven't read them all, but the first 4 or 5 are all pretty negative, along the line that we have shot ourselves in the foot. Some readers do say, however, that he'll probably be treated more fairly here than at Bayern. http://www.spiegel.de/sport/fussball/0,1518,777439,00.html
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction i also think that there will come more news from Germany..i also think that german press will more follow US games and make comments on Klinsi...since I m Klinsi fan and have been following his career since he was a player I will surely follow press about him and post something here ..when I think it might be interesting for you....i had a look at the press now..but reports I have read have not said something new or special...i have a special relationship to klinsi and different view on him...I will come back to US soccer now and follow more US soccer... but in summary I would say you have got an excellent man, super coach - i know some people might disagree - but this is my opinion....plus you have a good looking coach now. greetings from germany bltleo
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction Hopefully, if Klinsmann is successful in beginning to shape our youth system, he will be kept on longer than 3 years. If that means hiring him as a technical director afterward, then so be it. I really do hope he (and Reyna) can galvanize our youth system into something not-so-disparate in the next few years. Very long shot, but I am confident with a few firey and charismatic guys at the helm that some good can be done, however small.
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction Heres the thread on the spiegel forum about the article that Lothar is talking about: http://forum.spiegel.de/showthread.php?t=40831 12 pages now and the majority of it seems negative (as best as I can get from google translate,) a few at the end seem to come to sympathize with him/us though Thanks, I'm interested in reading about how this news is viewed from a German perspective.

Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction If Klinsi is anywhere near the class guy that Dirk is, we're in for a treat.

Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction The Spiegel forum is a very, very strange place for attention seekers rather than a hotbed of soccer knowledge. They even use the formal "Sie" to address each other. Most Germans will just use the opportunity to say again what they think of Klinsmann after his time at Germany at Bayern, without any real connection to the job at the USSF.
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction Too bad. You'd think they'd learn to have knowledgeable and reasoned on-point discussions like we do here on bigso..... Never mind.
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction I keep coming around to this conclusion: we get three years of HC Klinsy and then Technical Director Klinsy if things don't go horribly wrong. Pretty much everything he's said since the WC has sounded like a guy who's interviewing to be technical director.

Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction There's an interview with Klinsmann in Sportbild. I won't buy or read it, but it seems he said "It would be great to have a friendly against Germany. Not because I would meet a lot of friends, but because we need these tests." Sportbild.de teaser Doesn't sound like he's looking for weak opponents.
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction The American Football Association, is that like a combination of the NBA and AFC?
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction Yeah, like a combination of England and ....... penalty shootouts. Two things, that just don't go together.
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction Former US forward and current Borussia Dortmund U23 head coach David Wagner along with young German-American players Terrence Boyd, Tyrone McCargo, and Jann George give their thoughts on Klinsmann taking the US job GERMAN-AMERICANS REACT TO KLINSMANN HIRE
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction I back our new coach 100%, I like what he is saying, lets pray the team gels well with him and fights for results. I think we are in for some positive results!
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction forgive me for the threadjack, but bshredder, what's the scoop on Alfredo Morales, Fabian Johnson, and Daniel Williams??? does the Klinsi hiring help push these guys towards our direction???
Re: Jurgen's hiring, the German reaction Theres probably doesn't need to be a very hard push, once they realize they have no chance of playing for Germany in a world cup.
