Ok mods don't kill me over this one if this isn't the right place but, Klinnsmann will unveil the roster for january tomorrow.
Typical BS roster selection phases: Phase I: Speculation on selection Phase II: Anticipation of selection Phase III: Condemnation or Approbation of selections Phase IV: Resignation that no matter whom we select, we still are what we are.
Let's get this started early... I can't believe he didn't select (check all that apply): _Gonzalez _Cameron _John _Sapong _Duka _Zusi _Wallace _Loyd _S Williams _Kitchen _Feilhaber _Wondolowski _H Gomez _B Davis _Diskerud _Gatt _Parkhurst _Rolfe I can't believe he selected: _X_ Robbie f'ing Rogers
For me... this is his last chance. If he snubs people that have been snubbed before, without even a look see, then he's dead in my eyes and I will move to the anti Klinsmann side. He has been less than impressive so far and we dont have a lot of time to waste. The crew he has been using simply aren't getting it done and he needs to expand his player pool and stop making decisions based on some magical paper list. A January camp is the time to look and experiment. Lets hope he takes advantage of it and gives the usual cast of fringe players a chance to prove they belong or don't .... on the field
JK can try whatever now. The truth is, we have a fallback plan and that's the Bob/Arena lineup and strategy, which should still get us to the WC and still let us lose to Ghana by 1 goal.
“there’s a difference between wanting to play a particular way and having the players capable of playing that way,”-Kasey Keller people take note.
Its not out of context he goes on to say how hes wondering whether or not he'll change his selections when the results actually start to matter.
Watch who he calls in at the center back positions. Gonzalez needs to be balled in, and if we don't see at least one of George or Cameron, then we know we are in trouble, serious trouble. Calling up MLS guys for the January camp seems like a no-brainer. Lets see if JK can handle it.
With the performances in MLS this year, the CB quartet should practically pick itself: Gonzalez John Ream Cameron
Guys I'll be pissed if they don't get called: Feilhaber, Gonzalez, Cameron I'll be upset, but not pissed if no call: John and/or Marshall Guys who deserve a call, but won't get it: Hartman, Davis, Dunivant, Gaven Guys who don't deserve a call, but will get one: Rogers, Ream
What in heaven's name make you think Ream should get another look for awhile? Give him a break, and find somebody else if you need 4 cbs for practice....
Marshall deserves it over Ream. Ream needs to get his legs back underneath him. I don't want to see his sophmore slump become a flatlining career.
Amen. Ream was awful this year. And really, after the EPL deal fell through, John was pretty bad as well. Gonzalez, Cameron, and Marshall have all been outstanding for years at a time, though injuries have hurt Marshall a bit, ditto Cameron, and the position switches. But to my eyes, those three have been the best USA CB's in MLS over the last couple years, rather easily. 3 of the last 4 DOY awards among them (Marshall 2, Gonzalez 1).
If you actually watched him play for Red Bull this year, you would know that he was by far the least responsible party for that defensive mess. And as far as his USMNT worthiness, I agree that he has played himself off the A-team, but this is Camp Cupcake and he's definitely one of the top four American center backs in MLS. The fact that Besler has a crazy big throw-in doesn't change that.
Well, there seems to be a blog post about the roster, but no roster yet http://www.ussoccer.com/Social/MNT-Blog.aspx?plckBlogId=Blog:1a697a53-a181-4302-aa61-f454d97c88fd
You'd think he was coaching Thailand or something. For someone who thinks we're able to play possession soccer with the world's best, he sure doesn't seem to think very highly of our players.
