Anyone else impressed by how much Gini Wijnaldum has grown in stature under Klopp? It surprised me and probably plenty of others that Gini logged the third most minutes of playing time last season. Now so far this season he's started every game as the dm in the three , has bring pretty much faultless as he's pulled the string in mf for us. He's become quite an important player for us and could well figure high once again in minutes played this season.
I just posted this in the game thread but on point here also .... Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum completed 75 of his 76 passes in the game (98.7% accuracy), with his one misplaced pass coming in the 80th minute.
He’s been impressive enough to keep our captain and expensive new signing out of the squad. I really like our midfield options. Keita, Gini, Milner, Hendo, Fabinho, and Lallana give us six great midfield options. Besides Keita, I think they are all interchangable. This will allow Klopp to rotate as the season goes on and always have a fresh midfield.
He's another one who has significantly raised his game this season. Pressure from competition, maybe?
I'm not sure what to say ..... https://www.joe.co.uk/sport/liverpool-throw-in-coach-196842 Jurgen Klopp is leaving no stone unturned as he attempts to orchestrate Liverpool's first ever Premier League triumph. Liverpool are being backed by many to go the whole way this season after some significant spending from the Reds in recent months. The defensive problems were addressed in January with the arrival of Virgil van Dijk, the goalkeeping issue was remedied by the acquisition of Alisson and Liverpool's midfield was boosted by the signings of Naby Keita and Fabinho. Recruitment isn't the only area where Klopp has aimed to improve, however, as the German has also focused on more specific training methods for the campaign ahead. Klopp has hired Danish throw-in specialist Thomas Gronnemark on a part-time contract in order to improve the threat posed by the Reds from those situations. Gronnemark, who holds the world record for the longest throw-in at 51.33 metres, has previously worked with Denmark's FC Midtjylland to great acclaim and is now passing on his knowledge to Liverpool's full-backs. "Midtjylland have showed that the long throw-in can be a weapon, if you can do it with the correct technique, precision and tactical awareness," Gronnemark told the Liverpool Echo. "It’s very important that it’s a flat throw-in, because if it’s too high it’s easy to defend. "If you can make a long throw-in precise and flat, together with some tactical aspects, then it’s much easier to score."
Mini tournament at Melwood. Revealed: Why a forfeit awaits six players at Melwood on Wednesday… James Carroll Melwood played host to a four-team tournament during the second session on Tuesday night – with an interesting forfeit for the side who finished last… After completing a morning workout, a draw was made in the main coaching office upstairs at the complex to determine how the teams would line-up in the afternoon’s competition. Jürgen Klopp, Peter Krawietz, Pepijn Lijnders and John Achterberg oversaw the draw, with Jordan Henderson, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold acting as official adjudicators. The resulting line-ups were as follows… Team A: Mignolet, Robertson, Van Dijk, Keita, Jones, Sturridge and first-team fitness coach Conall Murtagh. Team B: Grabara, Matip, Alexander-Arnold, Milner, Origi, Shaqiri, Camacho. Team C: Kelleher, Phillips, Moreno, Henderson, Lallana, Salah, Mane. Team D: Alisson, Gomez, Clyne, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Solanke, Firmino. When the action got under way, each team played each other twice in five-minute matches. After an entertaining and competitive tournament, it was team D who prevailed at the end of it, as our photo above shows. However, Team A were the ones left facing the forfeit as they ended the competition in fourth place. Amidst the good-natured spirit of the session, there were key coaching principles being carried out during the course of the workout, and provided a competitive edge with something to play for. So, what was the forfeit for the six players and one member of coaching staff? Stay tuned to Liverpoolfc.com and our social media feeds on Wednesday to find out… https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/fi...it-awaits-six-players-at-melwood-on-wednesday
Asking a lot of Shaqiri... as a reserve 11 it could be a lot worse, though! I'd like to see Shaqiri get some more minutes once CL starts up.
I think better than just midtable. Is Arsenal much better than this team? I don’t think that Arsenal have a single player that gets into our first eleven. We also have Dom Solanke, Nat Phillips, and Curtis Jones who don’t make the second eleven.
I think Arsenal are definitely better than that reserve 11, personally. They'd take a player or two out of there, for sure, but that reserve 11 would lift the entire Arsenal attack.
if it matters - we add Lovren to the defensive mix after the break....(we hope) - so that will help the back line rotation. I have no concerns about Clyne coming in either. Moreno is moreno.....

Liverpool are unbeaten at Anfield in Europe under Jurgen Klopp. Their last home defeat in continental competition came at the hands of Real Madrid under the management of Brendan Rodgers in 2014.
