Ecuador has good attacking players, they know how to create chances but just cant seem to put it in the back of the net.

what goles "se comieron"? the only opportunities these guys have had to score in this tournament are 2(sadly): one for Benitez against Paraguay, one for Caicedo against Venezuela. And both of those were plays they generated themselves. I wish I would have recorded the mamadas this team had in the last Qualifier so you could see straight bloopers from Benitez and Caicedo. But Rueda's idea of attacking is awful and ineffective. In other words this team doesn't attack. So there were no dangerous moments that ecuador created in this tournament for Caicedo or Benitez to be labeled mamones.

Even if they would have tied or beaten Venezuela or Paraguay, I'd still be disappointed with that awful futbol they are demonstrating on the field. It's got to be the ugliest I've seen in any south american team in a while. That's reinaldo Rueda for you.

I don't see ecuador displaying anything anywhere close to that. No opportunities created besides that one Caicedo had. And this ^ was LFSuarez's ecuador. But Vizuete's ecuador man-THOSE were mamadas.

It's no coincidence, and many athletes have talked about how much more "this government" support sports than previous ones did.
An example of that is the stadiums that got built for Copa America 2007.

What's funny is that Chavez is a baseball guy, I bet he doesn't know how goals are in a soccer field.

Even if he doesn't know anything it must be a political thing, Venezuela is a member of CONMEBOL where pretty much for the other 9 countries' favourite sport is football, in such a place for a team where football isn't the favourite thing may be very difficult to compete these days, however now liking one or the other seems to be a generational thing, like people who's over 40 more likely will say their favourite sport is baseball while people under 40 will more likely say their favourite sport is football, with football being the favourite sport it may serve as a tool to approach other countries whose governments may symphatize with Chavez, don't you think?
