Struggles in 2. Bundesliga. Scores against first-team France.

That was a heck of a goal, too.

That it was. I'm really hoping these last few weeks are the turning point in Green's career. He has the talent and technical ability to be a good player.

for some reason that I'm sure makes sense to someone, the most active Furth twitter is Portuguese Furth twitter.

I feel the same about this like I did with Miazga. It would have been nice to see him loaned elsewhere but he already knew the system so it was fine. Miazga improved in his second year and hopefully Green will too.

I don't think he struggled in 2. Bundesliga. He actually got really good reviews as their CAM and Furth picked up a lot points with him there. where he struggled was from a goals/assists perspective.

It's the Story of Two Greens: he struggled in September, to the point he got benched.

He got a chance again by the end of November, and since then did well enough.

Although 3 goals + 1 assist in over 2,000 minutes is not exactly awe-inspiring in a 2.BuLi forward.

Not a lie, I just forgot about his injury. From what I remember he got benched when he was healthy, the Bochum away game. But it could be he wasn't considered match fit then.

Why do you have to be so offensive? People forget details, and indeed Green was benched, I'm being generous by attributing it to just lack of match fitness due to his injury but up to that point he wasn't having good reviews by the fans.

You do a disservice to this community when you just make stuff up.

Posters who don't follow Green closely will come into this thread, read your post that Green was benched from September to November, believe it is true and then repeat that lie in other threads.

I've been trying to find specifics about his injury and I'm not finding anything. This site reports injuries and has nothing about Green:

    https://www.flashscore.com/player/green-julian/63Z1rP3l/

See how they report that Saief is in fact injured:

    https://www.flashscore.com/player/saief-kenny/dtQj3H0m/

I've been trying to find reliable info about Green's supposed injury, beyond a couple of Tweets. I was also not the only one unable to find anything about the supposed injury:

Sorry but the more I dig into it, the more it seems the club just made an excuse to take him out. None of the sites listing injuries in the German system has anything about Green in October 2017. The only one is Transfermarkt but they are very iffy with injury stuff, and even that was edited in recently.

Disappointing. I expected him to get at least a shot with Stuttgart.

Green isn't a young player anymore - he turns 24 next season and obviously isn't eligible for US youth teams. Generally, we're at the stage of what we see is what we're going to get.

However, Bobby Wood had his breakout season with Union Berlin when he turned 24. So let's hope that will be Green's path forward.

This is a nice solid permanent move for Green. His future is sorted out and he can concentrate on his football and not have the lingering question of “what’s next?” in the back of his mind. Green closed out the 2BL season on a high note and had a couple of nice games for the US this summer. Hopefully that form carries right into the new season and he cements himself as an intregal part of Furth’s attack. This is a big season coming up and loads to prove.

I'm a little late on responding to you, but here is his TransferMarkt injury history, which is very reliable for German leagues: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/julian-green/verletzungen/spieler/161204

And here is his 2017-2018 game data (missed 5 games from injury, was on the bench for the 6th coming off injury, and then missed a game later in the season from yellow card suspension. Played a minimum of 60 minutes in every other game for the season): https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/julian-green/leistungsdaten/spieler/161204

Overall, I think this is going to be a great move for his playing time and I'm hoping he can continue to develop. I'd like to see him add to his assists mark this year, and even become a threat from the top of the box if they keep playing him at CAM.

That is super depressing. We have to rejoice that a dude gets signed by a crappy B2 team.
