regardless, River have a 3m fee so he's not going to go anywhere.

Only way I could see something different happening is if the player himself pushes for a move but I don't think it'll happen anyway

And I couldn't blame him, soccer players careers are short and their earning potential goes to shit after they retire. From a sporting perspective River is a great home but its still their career and I can't blame them for taking care of themselves and their family when they have the chance, and River like all clubs will probably want the move with the market where it is these days.

We as fans can criticize and look at things from the sporting perspective, but we all have jobs and we all do our best to maximize our potential, players window is so small that when the big move comes after a World Cup its hard to turn down. Hopefully he has a good agent and people around him so that if a move does come up he picks one that will be a good fit for him. But my fingers are crossed. he stays at River at least for another year or two and cements himself.

I hope he stays at river for the rest of his career.

Wait, most of it because I want to see him retire at Nacional.

They will not be able to afford him or his new Reggeaton music record label.

Quintero will finish his career in the MLS playing the Miami franchise. It would make since as it is a hub for reggaeton.

I'm not convinced his value is that high. Yes did he have an excellent world cup of course. Do I believe he can play for a high level team in the Americas? YES, mid level club in Europe sure.

BUT NOT WAY HE IS 4 or even 5 star team material. Guy has major flaws at that level.

I think you are really overlooking a lot of factors. A player like Quintero isn't always going to be valued in Europe like he is in South America, it has nothing to do with his talent.

Ortega, who was a legend for my club and was a KEY player for Argentina in 3 world cups, only ever played for Valencia, Sampdoria, and Parma in Europe, but no one can doubt his talent... He scored against Real Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Inter, and Juventus, yet he fought with his coach Ranieri at Valencia and of course he had his drinking issues, but he just wasn't made for Europe

Riquelme is another, who had one shitty season at Barcelona where he fought with Van Gaal then was shipped to Villarreal where he got them all the way to the champions league semifinals, but again he fought with his coach, and went back to Boca.

I am not saying Quintero is at the level of Ortega or Riquelme because he clearly isn't, but he is an extraordinary talent, and if he is doing it at River and not in Europe, that is not a knock on him. Tactics, discipline, fitness, and a load of things make him more suited for South American football and what club to do it at is better than River.

I was reading the thread back, and one poster in particular was banging on about the fact that JuanFer was a sub at River... Well this has nothing to do with his performances. He was excellent every time he took the field, and the fact that he was often a sub or taken off early has to do with him not being in peak fitness and also adapting to a much more physically demanding league. The Argentine league has its flaws, but the physicality is far greater than in Spain for example, where the slightest touch is a foul, in Argentina you can get kicked in the groin and the ref might not call a foul.

@RiverGaucho you also need to look at the times
Sadly Argentina league had way more money in the 90's or early 2000's. Nowadays is hard for them to hold on the players.

I actually think it’s the opposite. Teams are much more loaded now and able to hold on to players longer than 10-15 years ago

but i think tthat only boca and river...

Alario river scandal because the payment of the clause...is an example of how river is willing to hold players, depsite the atractive offers...........and now the pavon clause of 50 millions.......and the worrysome of angelicci about nandez and barrios clauses....

    but the other arghie teams??

I'm rather confused on how that is overlooking? If anything I agree with 99% of your post....

I just don't believe Quintero Transfer Value is 25 million Euros.... and other than America, and a few other clubs on this side of the hemisphere would pay for an outstanding price tag.

Also Boca and Palmeiras are solid in my eyes.
