I can't emphasize enough on here how much better his assist stats would be if the players on River were more efficient on their chances.

He seems to put passes up on a silver platter for most of the attacking players and many times they fail to capitalize on his brilliant service.

Can you imagine corners like that for Mina, Davinson, Zapata, Falcao late in matches in Russia? The tired Defenses won't know what hit them.

I am salivating just thinking about it.

(I am not going to talk about Tressor. I will leave that up to the weird comparison brigade of the forum.)

JuanFer is finally in a place where his attributes are appreciated by everyone. His style is loved by the manager, fans, teammates, commentators, basically anyone with a pulse in Argentina.

I am glad he is finally at a club that can not only use his skill but make it a focal point of their attacks going forward. I am not sure there are many other places he can go to that can help him get minutes and gain confidence. Hopefully he stays at river for a while.

Y'll think he'll make WC roster? I've been impressed with his level lately.

Tressor was too irregular, he was talented to play as a second striker or attacking midfielder, but he lacked balls to take a team forward if needed. @pepinointer and I have have talked a few times about how Mao Molina was a wasted talent by our coaches, he didn't even play 15 games with the NT yet the princess Giovanni Hernández somehow got almost 50.

If there's something I appreciate about Quintero is that he doesn't run from the fight, he may fail due to a hard marking and get isolated, but he will keep asking for the ball.

At the end of the day, this guy doesn't shy away from the moment and that is invaluable in a world cup. To me, he has to go

He looked happy in that interview. Maybe feeling appreciated makes the difference...

His passing is insane, so many of his passes achieve something, he breaks defensive lines over and over and then when he drifts wide his crosses are pinpoint accurate. His recent games he's been completely dominating games, he has to go and he's getting to the point to where he's going to challenge for a starting spot imo.

The criminal fact about Quintero is that his game would flourish in teams that dominate offensively and have a lot of the ball, in that type of team his value completely skyrockets because his passing free's up so many others. That's the saddest part, if he could work his ass off and commit to being a deep playmaker and defend a little and improve those parts of his game he has the offensive ceiling to play at big clubs who go out to attack, attack, attack. But up to this point he's wayyy too deficient in the other areas.

And said he's working to make the world cup. I like how the manager used that, has trickled his minutes to keep him hungry to earn the full 90 and supporting and rewarding him when he's been really good. Definitely seems like a guy who needs to be enjoying the game and needs the support to be at his best.

Pekerman also deserves credit for calling him up to the last qualifiers, but only giving him a taste of play at the end of the first friendly. Mentality is EVERYTHING with Quintero, and it looks like these two Argentinos have been orchestrating things perfectly.

The league is competitive enough and good to keep him in shape.

Haha Quintero is trolling the other Colombian players being like I only have to play well for a month and get to go. You suckers played well the last 4 years :)

7 dribbles completed and 3 chances created already in the first half. One of the friendlies lets get James and Quintero in there together in our 4-2-2-2 formation and play Cuadrado at RB go full on attack mode.

    -------Falcao
    James--Quintero--Cuadrado
    -----Barrios---Uribe

Or we can play like this, Uribe can drive out of midfield when James drops deep.

    Also

    -----------Falcao
    -----James----Quintero
    Mojica--Barrios-Cardona-Cuadrado
    ------Davison-Mina-Zapata

Doubt these happen but would never lose the ball with the back 3 lineup, either way even if its just vs the weaker teams in the group would be awesome to watch us play with the hand break off and just go for 5 goals.

It shows you how unique his skill set is and how few viable alternative options we have at his creative midfield position.

Ayer un exelente primer tiempo......en el segundo se fundio y salvo una buena pared, empezo a fallar pasas y se notaba sin aire.

Sigo pensando que es mejor opcion de suplenbte que como titular para desequilibrar el partido en segundos tiempo

He's getting there. Fitness and his skills that he showcased a few years back is sparking again.

I just hope that we can use him correctly in this world cup.
