If this has been posted, please accept my apologies.

I just read that Jozy Altidore's current club Xerez CD just went up into First Division. This of course means that Jozy is back in the First Division, after being loaned to Xerez from Villareal. Go Figure!

It's meant for Jozy to be in first division. :D

It's a loan. I hope he goes back to his real team or gets a loan to a team that might play him.

Jozy won't be at Xerez next season.

Being in the 1st division is absolutely meaningless if your watching every match from the bench or from the stands!

Yeah, I know he's loaned to Xerez, and Xerez was in the second division, now they're in the first division starting next season, so either way Jozy would stay be playing in the first division.

A question, why is it that these first division clubs pay for players and keep them on the bench?? What's the purpose of that?

Which is great, except there's a ZERO percent chance Jozy will be at Xerez next season.

There are bench players, because depth is a must. I have a feeling Jozy will be a supersub next season for Villarreal, and be the starter in Cup games. He could also get some games in Europe, which would be great experience.

Jozy's still a very young player. We need to be patient with regards to playing time for him a the highest level.

Villarreal. He was loaned to Xerez for the second half of the season.

Tough to see him getting a starting role at Villarreal but hopefully some quality minutes as a sub and for cup matches.

Why do you say that he won't be at Xerez next season?

Because Villareal is royally pissed off at Xerez. They sent Jozy there to get playing time, and then Xerez refused to play him.

But the manager and coaches at Villareal came out and said that Jozy WILL be playing next season whether its as a sub for Villareal or as a starter/sub for another team.

I heard that Nihat may be on the way out and there is a lot of interest in Rossi. Also, Villareal has already stated that they will not making any big name signings right now. If one of the mentioned players is sold then it is looking good for Jozy getting a good number of minutes with the first team.

With Rossi possibly going to Juventus, Altidore moves up in the forward ranks at Villareal. Fortuitous.

    For the same reason that MLB, NFL, NBA teams pay huge contracts to young players and then use them sparingly. Its a developmental process. Jozy is still only 20 years old. He may not be ready yet to start at Villareal week after week {gasp}

Ok so what about players like Walcott who started to play for Arsenal at 16?? Was he ready there, or was he still under development?

Of course there are excpetions. Kobe Bryant and Lebron have been great players since they were 18, most of the other 18 year olds in that league haven't been very good.

I hope Jozy does start for Villareal and becomes awesome. I'm just saying its not unusual for a 20 year old to not be ready yet. Still plenty of time for Jozy to develop.

Oh sweet Jesus, someone just delete this thread already. When I read the title, I assumed a transfer was announced late today. "First Division", who refers to La Liga as first division anyways?

    Everyone.

    La Liga = The League

    Primera Division = First Division

    Segunda Division = Second Division

Saying that Jozy returned to La Liga would be wrong, as he never left it.

Actually if we're getting technical shouldn't we be referring to it as Liga BBVA?
