he doesn’t look nearly fast enough to succeed as a winger nor strong enough to play inside. watching him dust defenders 1v1 is fun, but i’m dubious that undeniable skill translates to a top 5 league. hope that changes in the next year

One would think that he'd be given more minutes with the second team after that performance.

He better be on the final roster for the U17 World Cup.

He isnt an agent. He is the out of work coach that developed Mendez, llanez, Alvarez, Kobe, etc.

I don't really know the rules here, but Jong Ajax and Jong PSV are "legit" Eereste division teams these days (Meaning on the level with NAC, NEC, Helmond's "A" team, among others. Seems odd to keep these guys in the Academy slot, but as I say, it's not my circus.

It's not about the teams rather leagues. I don't think there's any 2nd division as bad as the Eerste Divisie allowed for inclusion on the big boy board.

Anyway, PSV 2 looked like a bunch of amateurs when I saw them early this season, and they're practically coming up the rear in the table. Possibly not 2 Legit 2 Quit the Eerste Divisie and get demoted to the Tweede unless they improve a lot over the course of the season.

This is just dumb. When Zelalem was in the Eereste he was on the "regular" board. We have a guy playing on VVV's reserves has a "regular" thread. We have guys all over the map on that thread.

Jong PSV and Jong Ajax play in a league that is a legit 2nd division. It is not an academy league. I mean, under this logic, you should bring Kik Pierie's thread over here. Wright's thread. If Dest goes back to Jong for a spell, you'll want to move him...

There's nothing about this post that makes any logical sense.

I think that was because he made a 1st team debut with Arsenal

You don't get demoted after you've been moved to the main forum

You're projecting an idiotic viewpoint in this case, while also being a prick, probably which was induced, in part, because of your emotional tie to the Dutch leagues.

Firstly, I didn't make the rule. I was mostly just relaying it.

Secondly, they have to draw the line somewhere to not allow the board to get over-crowded. I guess they drew it at the Eerste Divisie. They may not include Ligue 2 or at least 2nd divisions of higher ilk than the Eerste. But I know they don't allow any that are clearly worse.

Thirdly, the examples you provided were false equivalences. Wright had already debuted in 1st and higher 2nd divisions, same thing for Pierie, and my guy above said Zelalem has but I don't know for sure. Graduation is permanent.

    Again, their rules, foo.

The only rule that would make sense in regard keeping Jong Eereste teams in "Academy" is if the rule is there is a youth restriction on the team, or an "A" team above them.

If it is based on quality of the league there are a dozen or more players who would need to be moved here if Jong Ajax and Jong PSV stay put.

Basing it on teams with "age restrictions" or who have other "A teams" is the only thing that would make any sort of logical sense.

    K. But the question remains what is an "Academy" side as more leagues have started putting their "youth" teams in competitive leagues with "GAM" teams.

If the idea is that any team with a "1st team" above it is an academy, that's all good. But if it is somehow supposed to be based on the quality of the team or league, then there's some issues need sorting.

But it's not that big deal, except we have so many Jong Ajax and Jong PSV players at the moment.

I have some real good buds but I’d bet good money none of my friends dads are flying 14 hours to see me play a second division game on a weekday. I’m betting he’s working for 3Four3 now, and I was trying to insinuate that from the start.

He might be but I don't think he is still living in California. His son is playing in Germany, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was living there.

Highlights from the game. I think Pynadath got a big break here; he probably wasn't planned to get off the bench but injury made it happen and he showed out. Could have had two assists easily but his teammates scuffed the chances.

His run was instrumental in the last goal, as it dragged a defender and created the space for the pass.

  19. To give an example that it goes wrong when the whole is taken as the benchmark instead of the parts itself just take the Young Ajax team two (three?) seasons ago. It became champion of the league and had a midfield consisting of FdJong/vdBeek/Nouri. Nouri (sadly in vegetative state now) was in quality between FDJ and vd Beek. So it was a midfield that was worth about 180 million €€. Just that midfield. That same season at Young PSV current stars were running around too, like Malen, Ihattaren, etc. So you had two Youth teams that in potential value eclipsed whole teams in that league, even a bunch of teams in the Eredivisie.
The swith on/off should be the quality of the player, not the league he's playing in.
Edit: those two Young teams would even eclips the value of total mls clubs, just to put things in perspective.

Yeah - this is the kind of thing I was thinking of. But I do understand the consistency of simply keeping a guy in "Academy" until he plays for "the club's 'biggest' Team". As long as there is a consistent logic, which there does seem to be. We can't do it on "ability" since that is so debatable.

Just saw those highlights, Pynadath was looking dangerous. Dude can dribble like a boss and looks to be gaining some athleticism.

Jong is annihilating Eindhoven 6-nil in the 58th minute w/ no subs used until now. No reason to not experiment w/ the likes of Pynadath and Mendez soon.
