Seeing a lot of Ajax fans saying Pynadath did really well at this tournament. Here’s a short highlight video. https://t.co/vqugGthdFl— Sanjiv (@USMNTvideos) July 1, 2019
@zlebmada talked about him on the latest Scuffed podcast (worth a listen if you haven't checked it out), and said Josh has struggled to establish himself because of his lack of physicality/quick twitch athleticism. I think he was also injured for a good part of last year as well. He's certainly a skilled player and could turn the corner if he develops more physically.
Couldn't the injuries have skewed this perception? From my interpretation, the assessment on him was he was a standout, then last year stagnated. The narrative was then created he couldn't make the jump physically. I get the frailty concerns, but Pulisic has those too so far from a death knell, while he certainly looks quick to me in the highlights surrounding. Long-strides passed defenders and his ball skills/moves wrong-foots them. Obviously off to a bright start w/ the u-19's after an offseason rest. I saw @ChuckMe92 on Twitter just classify him as a warm body. In fairness I've never seen a full match of his, but seeing a lot of clips, reading the tea leaves, and knowing the developmental program he's in right now, I think I'm buying Pynadath stock right now. Especially w/ the U.S. u-17's issues at wing I think he should be in Wicky's consciousness and he shouldn't be buried on bad first impression.
This mornings "The Football Show" on Sirus FC they had two commentators discussing some players. I was only able to listen for about 20 minutes on the way to work. Ray Hudson was on I am not sure if the other commentator was Neil Barnett or Phil Schoen. I do not think it was Charlie Stillitano. Anyhow the other commentator was very impressed with "Josh" and basically stated that he would be one of three players Dest and Mendez who would all get a chance for a run out with the big team during the course of this season.
Starts: LIVE #AJAXO19 : Opstelling Ajax o19: Reiziger; Van der Sloot, Van Gelderen, Musampa, Salah-Eddune; Warmerdam, Ünüvar, Llansana; Hansen, Pinas, Pynadath. #ajagen— Ajax Showtime (@Ajaxshowtimecom) August 13, 2019
Ajax u19's won 5-2. Sadly our boy doesn't appear to have been involved in any of the goals, and was subbed out before the start of the 2nd half when it was 2-1.
Pynadath had an assist. He put a video up on his Insta of him breaking some ankles during the match, appeared to be playing on the left. He’s still super skinny.
My bad. The Ajax Showtime account only mentioned Unuvar as setting up both first half goals before Pynadath was replaced, possibly just due to it being a friendly. That's a relief he contributed and stayed on track in his solid start to the season.
Just don’t let it happen again. I don’t want to put you on a performance improvement plan, but god damnit, I’ll do it.
On an Instagram post about the game at Barcelona, he got a "crack" comment from Griezmann. So there's that. https://www.instagram.com/p/B1r4fJXHT5r/
