Rongen is having a December camp for the U-20s. Wonder if he'll call Gatt for that camp especially since Altach will be off for the Winter break. He may play in Autria's Erste Liga but he's getting a lot of minutes in actual games for a team that is currently in first place. He's match fit and getting game experience which is more than some or our MLS guys can claim.

I really like to see him play. He improved a lot and is now a starter in the team despite injured players coming back. I saw him now a few times in practice where he shows his skills.

I hope he will also start in spring. the team will do anything to promote and will get some new players in winter.

Where does he usually play? Is it on the left side of midfield?

Most times. He plays center left in a 4-4-2.

Depends partially on if the club would let him go for the real tourney (I could see the club going either way). Arguably it makes no sense to bring in a guy for a prep camp if you know you can't have him for the thing you're prepping for.

Which "real tourney" are you talking about? I assume you mean qualifying as Altach would have to release him for the actual WC tournament in Colombia. Plus, I'd argue that it'd make sense to bring him in whether he'd get released for qualifying or not. They're on Winter break in December...perfect time to get a look at him to see if he can compete regardless of if he may/may not be released for qualifying. There are a couple of players that Rongen has already brought in to camp who may not be released for qualifying (Bobby Wood being one of them). I'm sure Rongen didn't think that was a waste.

I say call him up for the December camp.

Gatt scored today against Austria Lustenau but Altach lost 2-1.

Ok this was from an article after he got the call up and before the games. Sounds like he had some German bundesliga interest before signing with Altach. It wouldn't be surprising as I believe the European tour team played some German teams.

I used google translate but I'm guessing its close.....

Goodness, I'm not saying it couldn't happen but I would think if he was aiming for anything it would be 2012 Olympics......at least that is a little more realistic.

Actually, it sounds more like there was one 2.Bundesliga club interested, although the result of the auto-translation makes it sound more confusing.

In theory, the Austrian Bundesliga or the German 2.Bundesliga would be the next step considering they probably scout Gatt's league more heavily than anyone else. A transfer wouldn't be likely for another 12-18 months, though, I'd say.
